John March, 1938

I'm looking to try to rebuild some family history...

I know my grandfather raced before WW2, but never learned what team he raced for. I have some old photos of him and his mates with their bikes, but nothing to identify which team. As far as I know, before the War he lived in the Tower Hamlets of London, so maybe New Cross Rangers? I do have a silver medal from West Ham Speedway (not a supported medal either!) marked on the back:

West Ham Cup

1938

1st Class

J. March

I also know that he broke his leg badly in a match late Spring or early Summer 1939, as at the start of the War he was still laid up, giving his career choices a hard rethink! (broken leg in a cast for 4 months, out of work, recently married and first child on the way, and WW2 just starting).

Anything info is appreciated.
