Ghostwalker
Gotland Islanders AKA Bysarna have been granted a construction permit from Gotland's planning and construction office, for their new track in Hejdeby, which is just a few Km east of Visby. They have earlier been granted a permit from Gotland's environmental office, however that permit has been appealed. Apparently noise measurements have been conducted in a manor to simulate a real heat start. The results were most satisfying and the engines could not be heard as close as a few hundred meters away at the local church. When finished the track will have several noise reducing constructions such as high and wide dirt walls and noise reducing fences. The construction will be done in two stages. In the first stage the access road and the 80cc track will be built, in the second stage the 500cc track, service buildings, pits, stands, parkings and etc will be built. http://sverigesradio...artikel=3710320 http://gotlandsnytt....hejdeby-kanske/ http://www.helagotla...ticleid=6023598 Edited May 20, 2010 by Ghostwalker

Ghostwalker
unfortunatley there has been a crash in Karlstad in the Allsvenskan meeting between Solkatterna from Karlstad and visitors Masarna from Avesta. Sources says that Sebastian Aldén (Masarna) and Robin Törnqvist (Solkatterna) have collided. Aldén probably a broken wrist and Törnqvist a severe concussion and hip pains. Both will be taken to hospital in Karlstad. The crash happened in Heat 14.

Ghostwalker
i think Smederna will show some of their away meetings as well but it depends on the standard of the internet connection., just keep an eye on smedernas website on race nights and you will notice if they have a stream or not. Oh and Robert Pettersson was suspected to have broken his thigh bone but examinations showed that the bone was not broken. However Masarnas Pontus Aspgren had to pull out of the ongoing allsvenskan meeting between Masarna and Hammarby after a crash. Pontus probably have broken a collarbone. Ghostwalker
Svemo have taken a decision to compromise a little regarding the demand for airfence and "formplyfa" on some type of tracks. The type of tracks affected are so called "practice tracks" which is not in regular use but only used for practice/learning. This means that tracks like, Örebro, Täby (Stockholm), Östersund and Bollnäs can continue as before. http://www.racemcsport.com/nyhet_spec.aspx?NyhetsID=843&Sport=speedway

Also look at the calendar on the right to find the dates for Ikaros Smederna's (Icarus Smiths in English) meetings. Thank you for your really helpful advice. We oid guys need all the technology help we can get! The "BrandonBee 48" user name is the year my father first took me, at the age of 4, to see speedway. 62 years later i still LOVE it. I saw the first 8 heats today, before it froze on me. I can watch the rest on the replay. In the 2 Smederna matches i have seen there have been an awful lot of crashes. Just bad luck? I love the stadiums in Sweden and the Vastervik track, with the picnic tables by the start line is exactly the way to watch a meeting. Thank you for all your informative posts about Swedish speedway. My first hero was an Australian, Les Hewitt. My second rode for Coventry in 1956, Per Olaf Sodermann. He was a great rider. Kindest regards. Alan. Anders
Excellent meeting at Skogsvallen (Nässjö) tonight, as Nässjö came from four points down halfway through the meeting, to win it in a last heat decider. Team Värmland looked like potential winners with Jeremia Thelaus, Victor Palovaara and Robin Törnqvist being unbeaten up to the interval, but home skipper Robin Aspegren scored three wins in heats 12, 14 & 16 to cool the Värmland trio off a bit. Aspegren won the final heat ahead of Robin Törnqvist, with Jacob Thorssell blasting around Victor Palovaara on the final bend for a 4-2 and a 49-47 win in the meeting. Incredible stuff! I'M SO HAPPY! Nässjö SK 49 Jonas Messing 2*-1-2-R-2 = 7+1 (5) Lennart Persson 3-2-0-1* = 6+1 (4) Jacob Thorssell 1-3-2-2-1 = 9 (5) Joel Blomstrand (guest) 0-0-0-N = 0 (3) Robin Aspegren 2-3-3-3-3 = 14 (5) Henric Lindqvist 3-1*-1-3-0-0 = 8+1 (6) Mikael Axelsson 1-1*-1*-2* = 5+3 (4) Team Värmland 47 Adrian Bergqvist 0-1*-0-0 = 1+1 (4) Thimm P Norberg 1-2-2-1*-1 = 7+1 (5) Jeremia Thelaus 3-3-2-1*-3 = 12+1 (5) Victor Palovaara 2*-3-2*-3-0 = 10+2 (5) Robin Törnqvist 3-3-3-2-2 = 13 (5) Marcus Broqvist 0-0-0-0-0 = 0 (5) Anders Sohlberg 2-N-1-1 = 4 (3) Filbyterna - Ikaros Smederna 40-55 Christian Agö proved to be an excellent choice of guest for the injured Robert Henderson as Ikaros Smederna finished strong, going from a narrow three point lead (37-34) after 12 heats to win by a fifteen point margin. Gasarna - Hultsfreds Gymnasium 39-57 Ludvig Lindgren made a rare appearence in Dackarna's reserve team, and scored a four ride full maximum for the winners. Gasarna, without heat leader Pontus Aspgren, lost the opening seven heats with a combined 11-31 score, a mountain to high to overcome. Gnistorna - Indianerna Junior 60-33 The Indians came with only six riders, and one of them (guest Chatrine Friman) crashed in her first heat, and withdrew from the meeting. Three of the away riders recorded 31 points between them, but the remaining riders only managed 2 between them. Stjärnorna - Eldarna 72-24 No comments, really. WembleyLion
Just completed a mini break in Sweden with a meeting at Hammarby this evening. I was very impressed with the standard of racing with Pawel Miesiac, Ronnie Jamrozy and Dennis Andersson particularly exciting to watch. Ornarna ran out winners by 50 v 45. Last night at Linkoping was also very enjoyable where Filbyterna lost at home to Ikaros Smederna. There were a number of up and coming young Swedish riders who looked very promising. On Tuesday I went to Kumla to see Indianerna against Vargarna. Back to England tomorrow but hopefully it'll not be too long before I return to visit a few more tracks in Sweden. I would recommend a trip here for anyone who likes to travel to watch a bit of Speedway - it's very easy to find your way around.
