Anders
So, this is the line-up for the second World Cup qualifier, held in Abensberg on May 24th. (Source: Speedway.org) NORWAY 1. Kim Rudi Juritzen 2. Tord Solberg 3. Marius Rökeberg 4. Stein Roar Pedersen 5. Patrick Herold CZECH REPUBLIC 1. Ales Dryml 2. Matej Kus 3. Lukas Dryml 4. Michal Malek 5. Josef Franc GERMANY 1. Martin Smolinski 2. Tobias Kroner 3. Kevin Wölbert 4. Christian Hefenbrock 5. Frank Facher LATVIA 1. Viacheslav Geruckis 2. Maksims Bogdanovs 3. Jevgenijs Karavackis 4. Leonids Paura 5. Kjastas Puodzuks Two days and only 300 km from Prague GP, so I will actually be there for this one (along with Zetters)! Should be a good fight between the Czechs and Germans, with the Latvians acting spoilers. Norway looks weak, and it seems like several of their better riders won't be there. I would have thought Lars Daniel Gunnestad would be a top five rider in Norway, and what about Mikke Bjerk, Rune Sola, Björn Hansen or Carl-Johan Raugstad? All rode last year... BWT, what are the correct spellings of riders No 1 and 3 in Latvia? I've seen so many different spellings of both their first name and surname that I don't know what to think anymore... You need to adapt the formula for extracting a polish speedway riders name which is as follows..... 1. Get a bag and place all the letters of the alphabet in it. 2. Thrown in lots and lots of extra 'z' 'x' and 'j' 3. Give it a right old shake. 4. For the first name withdraw between 5 and 9 letters. 5. Throw in lots more 'z' 'x' 'j'. 6. For the surname draw around 35 letters from the bag. OK joking aside, the spelling from the superb main Latvian speedway site gives the names as 1. Vjacheslav Gieruckij 2. Maksim Bogdanov 3. Jeugenij Karavackij 4. Leonid Paura 5. Kjastas Puodzuks Edited May 17, 2010 by manchesterpaul
f-s-p
LATVIA 1. Viacheslav Geruckis 2. Maksims Bogdanovs 3. Jevgenijs Karavackis 4. Leonids Paura 5. Kjastas Puodzuks 1. I'd go with Giruckis, first name seems fine 2. Maksim Bogdanov 3. Jevgeni or Evgeni, pick one to go with Karavackis 4. Leonid Paura 5. Surprisingly Kjastas looks like this allover... I had a crisis about these names too at one time. Next day there was an article in the newspaper saying that 70 % of Russian dont know themselves the correct spelling of their name. So why stress about it! I've picked one for each and going with that...

manchesterpaul
Does anyone know if this is being televised in any shape or form?. Ideally live and with an internet stream to access. It's due to start 13:00 BST and looks to have the potential to be a good meeting with only one team going through. UPDATE Found a video preview of the meeting here http://www.tvaktuell.com/default.aspx?ID=5164&showNews=728085 so hopefully at the very least there may be highlights to come??? manchesterpaul
Does anybody know why Hefenbrock didn't ride for Germany ? He rode Gustrow on saturday and outscored Barker in the International Pfingstpokal. My german is a little rusty, however, fairly sure the following is pretty much the story. It would seem team chief Rene Schafer has cut off their nose to spite their face?, not sure, confirmaton or negation would be nice. Christian Heffenbrock was indeed nominated in the inital team. Thomas Stange was merely a standby reserve for training on Sunday. On Thursday the manager phoned Heffenbrock to say he would have to attend the practice. Christian had already signed contracts and was eager to link up with his sponsors in the East German Whitsun weekend classics that are a highlight of the year. He claims that compulsory practice in Abensberg was never mentioned. The manager it would seem took a stand against Heffenbrock as i understand he is under more criticism because Tobias Kroner also missed practice! Heffenbrock's parting comment was that he must accept the decision but hopes it isn't the wrong one for the German team. iris123
Kevin Woelbert was racing for Grudziadz in Hungary on Sunday, so I guess he was missing as well! Schäfer has said that you can't just pull out of Polish league meetings, but the meetings in Meck-Pomm(Güstrow and Teterow) are open meetings and Hefenbrock wouldn't be missed!!! .On the other hand Wölbert and Kroner have also had a fair amount of meetings to judge their form, whereas Hefe has missed a good bit of the season so far.You can see his point there, but it is a big chance leaving out one of the best riders(on past performances...).These meetings in M-V are important for Hefe.I think i saw a crowd of 8,000 mentioned for Tet and Gü normally gets a big crowd as well and Christians sponsors are local to these tracks Germany out yet again
