Anders
This upcoming Friday, the first official fixture will be held in Sweden, the annual Vetlanda Lagcup (Vetlanda 4 Team Tournament). The three qualifying rounds will be raced on Friday, with the C-, B- and A-final on Saturday. Of course, there are some riders that are well known for the international fans, the most noticable being Andreas Jonsson, followed by Peter Ljung, David Ruud and Daniel Nermark. Vargarna manager Peter Jansson have brought over two Russian riders to "scout" the Russian market, but several other nationalities are also represented, as Denmark (Peter Juul), Finland (Juha Hautamäki) and Poland (Adrian Gomolski). All of the three qualifiers can be followed via live updates on Elit Vetlanda's website, starting at 12:00 local time on Friday. For Saturday, most likely the A-final will be the only one with live updates (as I'm busy for the other two finals). *** QUALIFIER 1 - FRIDAY APRIL 16TH at 12:00 HRS *** NJUDUNGARNA 1. Peter Ljung 2. Vicar
It's great season's beginning Finally Sweden starts. Griparna has interesting squad. Will Eric Andersson ride finally? He was talking about abandoned Sweden because of silencers.

Ah, yes, I forgot to add that the SVEMO track racing committee has made it acceptable to ride with the old silencer in the Vetlanda 4TT, but that's the final meeting. So if SVEMO hold their ground, the A-final on Saturday will be the last meeting in Sweden with the old silencers.

There's a meeting at Hallstavik this sunday also, wonder what will happen there regarding the silencers. Timo Lahti has also been talking about riding on saturday at Vetlanda. Ghostwalker
anders, does the teams have any reserves available if some riders cant make it due to the cancelled air traffic? I guess THJ is stuck in England since he rode in a meeting y'day (Thursday) evening and there ins't likely to be any flights until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Anders
anders, does the teams have any reserves available if some riders cant make it due to the cancelled air traffic? I guess THJ is stuck in England since he rode in a meeting y'day (Thursday) evening and there ins't likely to be any flights until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Generally, each team is responisble for their own line-ups, so I can't speak for them, but in the case of THJ, I have some facts. He won't be able to make it to Sweden, at least not on Friday. His place in the Elit Vetlanda line-up will be taken by Peter Ljung, while Ljung's place in the Njudungarna line-up will be taken by Filbyterna's Michael Sjöqvist. (Benny Johansson will be moved up to No 1 position, Sjöqvist steps in at No 2) There aren't that many riders in the line-ups that does ride in Britain, other than THJ I can only think of Daniel Davidsson (Lakeside) and Viktor Bergström (Scunthorpe). I don't know if they are in Britain or Sweden at the moment, but I haven't heard anything from their team managers, so I guess their status for Friday's qualifiers are OK. f-s-p
Anders, you think Hautamäki will get to ride this year for Griparna? What about Timo Lahti, any good through your eyes?
Anders
Who is Jacob Thorssell? Great result in quali. I'm impressed. Great talent? Jacob (born 1993/07/24) originally started at the Filbyterna club in Linköping, where his dad has previously ridden. After a stint with Piraterna's youth team in Motala, he rode for Elit Vetlanda's youth team for his final three seasons of 80cc speedway. This is his first season of 500cc speedway, and it looks like he has adapted quite well. Not much of a gater yet, it's quite a different technique to 80cc, but he's not afraid to a full throttle ride. I was amazed to see him blast around the Vetlanda track on an impressive 65,9 seconds in his first outing in the third qualifier on Friday night. Only Peter Ljung clocked two faster times on the night. Jacob should see most of his season spent with Elit Vetlanda's partner team in Division 1, Nässjö, but it looks highly likely he'll figure with Elit Vetlanda as well, at least as a No 8 junior (without scheduled rides). And especially for you, Vicar, some date of births for some of the new riders in your database; Victor Palovaara: 1994/01/31 Lennart Persson: 1961/01/28 Henric Lindqvist: 1993/12/30 I won't be able to post scoresheets/heat details from the B- and C-final tonight (because quite frankly I'm exhausted), but hopefully tomorrow. Heat details and scoresheets are now available from all six meetings in Vetlanda, courtesy of the Swedish Speedwayresults website. Anders, you think Hautamäki will get to ride this year for Griparna? What about Timo Lahti, any good through your eyes? I've always been a fan of Hautamäki as he usually goes very well at the Vetlanda track, so I certainly hope so. However, from the 2010 season, an Allsvenskan line-up must always consist of 1 Swedish U23 and 1 Swedish U21 rider (or 2 U21 riders of course), so it's a bit tougher this year. With Daniel Davidsson and Kim Nilsson riding in Britain, and it may be some fixture clashes, his chances looks quite good. Timo Lahti did a solid but unspectactular job with 6 points in the A-final, in his first visit to the track. He wasn't a stand out in the meeting, I must admit, but he's still only 17 years old so I'll follow his progress with interest.
