Save Our Speedway-sign Petition

Recommended Posts

Just Signed your Petition, I certainty wish you all the best. Its a situation that me and other Brummies fans know only too well with our council on our backs regarding noise. Its the reason why New Silencers have been introduced to help to save our club when our council come to decide later in the year.

Job done. Western Springs holds many fond memories for me over the years, although the track surface was not very "solo friendly". But best of luck in keeping things alive there.

Signed - I was fortunate enough to visit the venue during a trip to NZ some years ago - unfortunately I did not see any Speedway there so I would like to go back one day to put that straight.

Good luck!

Unlikely. The bikes tested at Western Springs a few weeks ago. They had intended to race but the surface was not suitable so they did a few demo runs. These days Western Springs is a leading car circuit - clay/dirt surface - and has its main formulas as sprint cars and midget cars.

Still, considered by many as the best car speedway circuit in the world. And with a temporary surface who knows what sort of speedway event we could run.

Awesome venue for an International speedway event or solo as it is known in New Zealand or an Grand Prix. You cannot race speedway bikes on a car racing surface. However it is well within the possibilities of the Grand Prix powers that be to take the top surface off and add a more suitable one. You would have a solid base to work with. Then you would have some meeting!

More suitable for the sprint cars and midget cars or the speedway bikes? And restore it for the cars after any Speedway GP - that could be expensive.
