I have found something like this:

http://www.irgiz.narod.ru/2010/03/2010mar06.html

It looks like there will be two league in Norway! Can anyone confirm that? Because for me it's hard to believe in that, there are not so many riders in Norway.

According to my contact in Norway there will be 2 Divisions this year with promotion and relegation. The plan is to have 6 teams in division 2 although some of these will be second teams from Oslo and Riska.

With regards to the number of riders, speedway in Norway has started to pick up again and they do have some good young talent coming through thanks to their 85cc training system. Daniel Gunnestad has emerged as Norways leading junior but watch out for his younger brother Thomas this year who will be in his first year of riding 500cc. Another young rider to keep tabs on is Glen Moi

Guess it is all relative.Wouldn't expect Gunnestad or Moi to scare many riders on the international scene.Well maybe Moi steps up onto 500cc and makes big strides, but having seen him in Denmark last year he has a lot of improving to do before that happens

How come Oslo is no longer in division one, but has TWO teams in division 2 ????

I thought it was five teams (incl Oslo) in Div1 and seven in Div 2. Which way is it right?

Now it so happens I'm in Oslo on 29th-30th May. Can anyone help me with any of the following: confirming the fixtures are on, the starting times and exact location of the stadiums. [Lanzilla are you out there?]

Daniel Gunnestad rides for Ikaros Smederna and Tomas for Team Värmland in the Swedish Division 1 league.

But where are Sola and Raugstad so far this year? Are they injured since last season? What happened?

Sola has had a knee operation and Raugstad are having final exams at school.

When it comes to the two divisions and speedway "picking up" in Norway that is a load of crap. The second division has been started mainly for the Old Boys riders and the second halves riders to have somewhere to compete. In my view the league is absolutely crap and dangerous for the young riders who are just starting their career (the old guys make the gate but can`t hang on to the bike for more than a lap or two, the younger guys catch up and dangerous situations starts to enfold).

To say that we have a lot of recruitment in Norway is utterly wrong, so far this year 8 riders have participated in the 85 ccm Norwegian Cup (from 2-3 clubs) and I can`t see any of those riders barking up any tree in the future (but the beforementioned Glenn Moi has excellent backing and equipment and also Lasse Fredriksen and Espen Sundvor has potential).

Why Oslo have two teams in the second division beats me too, the fact is that it is always the Oslo management who say that speedway is soooo good in Norway and during winter time they always declare that they have a lot of riders but when the seasons starts the oposite always apply. I think they have entered two teams in the second division because most of their riders are Old Boys guys. On top of that Oslo have NO 85 ccm riders this year.

For the records; with the right backing Thomas Gunnestad could be the next good speedway rider coming out of Norway, he sure as he** has got the talent.

Very informative,Maddas, and probably exactly how it is.

Team Norway in Monday's World Team Cup Qualifyier in Abensberg will be totally outclassed. To send a team including a 55 year Stein Roar Pedersen and three raw youngsters into international battle is bound to be sunk to the bottom of the sea.

Today, there were only two of the Norwegians practising at Abensberg, and they had technical problems ... and technical problems ... and ... well, You guessed it right, technical problems no end.

I had hoped to see Lars Daniel Gunnestad, the Bjerk brothers plus Sola and Raugstad -the last two are obviously unavailable - but of the five that are named for Abensberg only Rokeberg is worth a few points. Solberg maybe the one other to score a point or two.

I think also Lars Fuglerud will be worth to see. But you're right: the best team will be Sole, Raugstad, Bjerk, Rokeberg, Gunnestad. But it is good that Norway is back again in World Team Champs.

And does anyone have results from weekend's meeting?

Well I found Lunner.

Result:

Elgane 32 (M Bjerk 11, I Bjerk 11, R Eklof 10)

Drammen 24 (LD Gunnestad 13, T Gunnestad 8, Fuglerud 3)

Riska 20 (Raugstad 10, Herold 6, Sjeevland 4)

Kristiansand 13 (Solberg 9, Fossberg 4)

and a detailed map is now on the Drammen site (thanks) so I should catch today's round too.

Result from Drammen:

Drammen 34 (LD Gunnestad 15, Fuglerud 10, T Gunnestad 9)

Riska 28 (Raugstad 12, Herold 8, Skjaeveland 8)

Kristiansand 19 (Solberg 10, Hansen 9)

Elgane 0

Elgane refused to compete as the Drammen track requires new regulation silencers to be used. Riska led after 9 heats, but Drammen finished strongly not dropping a point in the closing heats.

Only 3 of the 15 heats had four riders, five races involved unopposed 5-nils against Elgane. The lowlight of the meeting was heat 9 when Espen Hansen rode unopposed against Elgane, fell off on the second bend, damaged his machine and limped home in a winning time of four minutes!

edit PS The official result shows a couple of differences : Drammen 34, Riska 27, Kristiansand 17

Well having seen Moi,Sundvor and Fredriksen at Vojens on thursday i can't say i have greatly changed my opinion.Moi looked better than his 3 points i must say.He was really battling hard.....too hard.He was excluded in one heat for dangerous riding, coming hard under Mads Jensen causing him to fall.In the same heat Sundvor got his point by pushing home, but if Moi hadn't have been excluded then there wouldn't have been a chance of a point. It was a similar situation in a lot of heats for the Norwegians. They picked up points because there were only 3 finishers.Hope for better times ahead for Norway though

Edited because of sticking "v"
