Guest maddriver
Ive got this meeting on vid and watched it over and over trying to figure who was to blame, ive come to the conclusion that, because they were knocking hell out of each other for a lap mr kittleson would have excluded who ever fell....just my opinion. fatface
My two-penneth: Penhall took him out. I think Kenny was pretty dirty in the lead up to the incident and this probably gave Bruce the red mist. If you watch closely, Penhall just takes him wider and wider and even when they reach the straight, he doesn't straighten up he just keeps on sliding out to the fence. HE HAD NOOOOOOOOOO CHANCE! Gemini
You'd move out a bit if you had Crumpy on the inside.

Splatty
excellent - you are my hero Grachan! I think it was all 50 50 two bends earlier and then Penhall definitely to blame! I remember being close to tears watching that as a ten year old dont suppose Kenny's interview would be playing at a cinema near us soon?? Grachan
Once upon a time - ie 1973 - it was possible to fill out Wembley Stadium with a match between England and Sweden. That wouldn't happen these days - and not only because Wembley Stadium isn't there any more! Actually, I think this might be the first ever speedway match I saw. When I first went in 1974 I had no idea what Speedway was, but once it started I realised I'd seen it before on the TV. I'm almost certain this was the match. Custom House Kid
That's the Christer Lofqvist I remember! (missed out on this stopped going in 1971) all set up by the attempted pass on the previous bend!
Splatty
Thx - forgot he was on the phone classic nooo chance line but tinged with sadness now I guess great wembley race - I never went but my Dad tells me that the noise echoing under the roof was immense

Grachan
Heat 6 of the 1983 Intercontinental Final was an excellent race between Dennis Sigalos and Ole Olsen. (I'm not so sure that Falcace will enjoy it though!)

howling gorgon
Heat 6 of the 1983 Intercontinental Final was an excellent race between Dennis Sigalos and Ole Olsen. (I'm not so sure that Falcace will enjoy it though!) Dirty b*****d, that Olsen oh happy days, back then as a kid, Olsen was my hero, (opinion has changed a bit these days!), 83' must have been his last season or thereabouts, just shows he still had it........... Serious racing though, pleasure to watch, keep them coming Grachan
SCB
You can see who Nicki Pedersen learnt his tricks from But dad says all Danes have always been the same, everytime we watch a video and Olsen or Neilsen appear dad starts giving them abuse Silly b***** went to Ole Olsens farewell meeting though, despite not liking him at all Yes '83 was Olsens last season, well he had his farewell at Brandon in '83 and the crowd size made the ELRC and the EL playoff crowds look tiny, almost insignificant! Had the forum people been on the 4th bend you'd have not been able to see us as it was so crowded. Intrestingly 20 years later speedway promoters are teling us speedway is getting bigger

sandman
i think Olsen was focused,.. a bit macavellian.. the ends justify the means just like all world champs. there wasnt at the time anyone tougher back then,.. and he would just as soon stick an oponnent in the fence as look at him.. bottom line.. great. realise i am not Politically Correct in my view, but he really was tough, and talented.. Grachan
By the way there was a meeting at Wimbledon which was held as part of the world games quite a few years ago , absolutely blinding race between Alan Grahame and John Cook, two real hard chargers. You mean this one?

Grachan
1984 World Team Cup. Heat 15 - USA need to win the heat to set up a last heat decider. If Denmark win the heat they are champions. Bobby Schwartz and Tommy Knudsen.
howling gorgon
Grachan, you are an absolute star, another classic : Tommy K was some talent, got to be up there with the best never to have won a world title & an absolute stalwart for the Bees Wonder what he's upto these days? Grachan
Tommy K was some talent, got to be up there with the best never to have won a world title & an absolute stalwart for the Bees Hopeless at wheelies though! I remember him celebrating a win at Swindon on one wheel, completely overdoing it and falling off the back. I think I've got it hiding away somewhere. I'll have to dig it out. It even made 'What happened next?' on Question of Sport!
