Big meetings coming up in New Zealand this month are the NZ Solo Grand Prix at Gisborne (Feb.20) and the New Zealand solo championship final at Oreti Park (Feb.27)

Well if the overseas riders and all the kiwis are at Oreti Park on February 27 for the NZ Championship that rules out a restage of the second test the same day at kihikihi doesn't it. Are you sure the overseas riders are staying that long in NZ. Thought they might up and away after Rosebank on February 14.

This series has been rather hard to follow. Have there been any matches since the one mentioned above for Moore Park took place and the LAST ONE at Rosebank this tomorrow Sunday February 14? Is the rained off test for Hamilton being restaged or can we count that out of the schedule now meaning there were only two unofficial tests and not three meetings overall for the international teams.

To be honest Speedway as a whole in NZ is hard to follow at times.... but they are certainly doing their best and trying to develop the sport once more.... The format of some of the meetings needs a little work, especially like this series (Aldridge and Finch faced each other twice, but didn't necessarily face some of the bigger international riders! )

Did the meeting at Rosebank Sunday February 14 take place and was that the last meeting in the International Series? Is the NZ Grand Prix at Gisborne running this weekend Saturday February 20.

No results from Rosebank? And what about the solo racing at Western Springs the day before?

There was no solo racing at Western Springs. They just did a few solo demos - the track was set up mainly for sprint cars, midget cars, etc and completely unsuitable for speedway bikes.

It seems there was solo racing at Rosebank the next day February 14.

It doesn't help attracting people when SKY TV didn't show the Grand Prix or World Cup meetings this year in New Zealand. 2009 is the first time for years they haven't bought the coverage.

All the big city tracks like Western Springs, Te Marua and Ruapuna are all set up for cars now and the bikes take second best. Mind you the cars don't get anything like the crowds they used to in the 70's and 80's in Auckland or Christchurch.

Fortunately I either get up in the middle of the night and watch a live stream or my parents send the meetings over!

GETTING THERE!!!

GISBORNE HERALD newspaper.

Duel at the raceway

Bevan Chapman

THE duel between Andrew Bargh and Jade Mudgway could be worth the admission price alone when the two-wheelers take over Eastland Group Raceway for the New Zealand solo bikes grand prix tomorrow.

Up to a dozen bikes are expected to turn on a stunning show in the D&D Motorcycles Clean Cut Services GP.

Former New Zealand champion and reigning grand prix champion Bargh, of Hawke’s Bay, will start as the man to watch. He won the GP when it was last held in Gisborne in 2007.

Standing in his way is Palmerston North’s Mudgway, who has established himself as one of the country’s top prospects.

The local challenge will be led by Paul Habib and Lonnie Larby, who have been the standouts this season.

It will be interesting to see how much advantage their experience on Gisborne’s unique banked track will give them.

Mudgway 1st Sean Mason 2nd Lonnie 3rd Chopper Bagshaw 4th Hayden Bagshaw 5th

from those results I doubt Bargh was there.

I guess you are right about no Andrew Bargh being at Gisborne for the NZGP.

Now what about Rosebank Sunday February 14...what went on there...PLEASE!
