''IN anticipation of some much better weather over the weekend it has been can confirmed that the Bob Kilby Memorial meeting will go ahead this coming Sunday (March 21) at 6pm.

The full line-up will be re-released later today, but in the meantime we are able to confirm that the big names of Emil Sayfutdinov, Jason Crump, Nicki Pedersen, Leigh Adams, Chris Harris and Hans Andersen have all said they will definitely be racing in Sunday’s meeting.''

That's good news Shirls!

Emil was booked on a flight leaving the UK on Sunday - there's a chance they'll manage to reschedule so he can race. I heard Pedersen may not be available on Sunday, but perhaps his reported comments to the gate-men on leaving were out of frustration ?

I hope the field is near enough the original line up - it was arguably the best ever assembled at Blundson. Great credit to the organisers, whatever happens.

Eh? What comments?

According to the Bees website on the 2nd March...

..."They will be taking a strong team north of the border, with only No.1 rider Chris Harris missing due to a commitment in Poland."

This refers to the Glasgow meeting this Sunday 21st March.

So will Chris be there?

Just how bad was the rain at Swindon last night ? I left Newbury at about 6:20 and it was only a drizzel. Just before I got to J15 I had a text saying the meeting was off so came straight back but the rain at J15 was still only light.

Just hope half the riders don't vanish before Sunday (when it rain anyway)

The track was watered in the afternoon  spoke to people from Cornwall, Exeter, Darlington, Liverpool, London that had made wasted journeys.

They were expecting a crowd of between 2500-3000.

Hopefully they can retain the strong line-up(apart from Andersen) for Sunday, and get a bigger attendance.

Ah, brilliant. So he can ride at Swindon but couldn't ride for his own club at Glasgow.

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm (up until just after lunchtime tomorrow).

Thanks

Totally agree mate, shocking decision if he decides to ride at Swindon instead of Glasgow.

Now ask yourself a question if you were Bomber would you rather ride againgst a weak Premier League team or ride in a meeting with fellow G.P riders?.

Yes thought so & looking forward to seeing Bomber in a proper meeting & not a mickey mouse one.

Its not a question of "what Bomber wants" ... I dont care what Chris Harris wants to achieve in life. And please dont get all high and mighty with your "proper meeting & not a mickey mouse one" .... I really couldnt care less about what you think of our league, team or meeting.

Its a question of integrity here ... Harris has clearly told the Coventry promotion that he had a prior engagement in Poland, so therefore couldnt make Coventry's challenge at Glasgow

"They will be taking a strong team north of the border, with only No.1 rider Chris Harris missing due to a commitment in Poland."

Bees head north press release

Only for us Glasgow/Coventry fans to find out, that he didnt really have a commitment in Poland, and has agreed to ride at Swindon on Sunday instead of riding with his club at Glasgow.

I would expect this kind of behavior from international riders, but not Britains number 1.

Harris obviously knows which side his bread is buttered on.

Its not a matter of riding AGAINST anyone. Its a matter of riding WITH your club team.

All i know is that he will be gracing himself in a field of top quality riders in a meeting dedicated to a swindon great..good in my book but just a shame that Bees fans are jumping out of there pram about it without actually hearing from Bomber himself...but then thats hardly unheard of in this glorified chatroom is it?!

The rain had been steady from about 4.30 but some weather reports said it would be a dry night

It was still raining as we left the stadium and the track was wet, but not as bad as we've seen it in previous season so the drainage must be working well :approve:
