Looking for some general info such as, what is Lesnzo like, would we be better staying in Poznan and how much were the tickets last year in GBP. Thanks in advance We went this year but stayed and flew to Wroclaw, however we stayed in poznan for the Bydgoszcz GP .Poznan and Wroclaw are both similar distances from Leszno.I prefer Wroclaw out of the two towns. We sat between the start and the first bend(Grandstand A)and paid around £50. Are you thinking of hiring a car or using the train ? Are you thinking of flying with Wizzair ? The Cat
Went last year. Stayed in Poznan and travelled to Lezsno on the day, only 50 mins by regular train. Enjoyed Poznan, nice big square with good atmosphere. Good buzz in Lezsno on GP day too. Well worth the trip.

Like others have said, you'd be much better off staying in Poznan or Wroclaw and travelling up on the day. Leszno is quite a sleepy wee place with a nice little square and a few bars dotted around. Last year though, the first train back to Poznan wasn't until the early hours, but there are loads of beer tents at the stadium, makes for a great atmosphere before and after and they are open long into the night. GregM
I have been to Wroclaw before and I absolutely loved it. I fancy Poznan as it is somewhere different. Thanks for all the suggestions and link to the Polish website. Much appreciated

Sandie
In years gone by Phil had a couple fo brilliant threads running about travel info for all those off into Europe for GP's and WTC meetings. But the info is now possibly outdated. With Mod approval I have started a thread for each 2010 location to assist all of us heading out this coming season. These threads will be made sticky's so easy to find. Please use it to ask / answer and questions about Flights / accomodations / trains / taxi's/ trams / Event tickets etc. Hopefully this will keep all questions to one thread and make our trips a lot simpler to plan. We cant make the league meeting on the Sunday as cant get the Monday off work so were doing fly out Saturday morning back to UK Sunday morning as its an early flight home on the Sunday dont need a hotel so a very cheap GP .I think it wont cost us much over £100 ,Beat that Cardiff ??? Dexter
Looking for some general info such as, what is Lesnzo like, would we be better staying in Poznan and how much were the tickets last year in GBP. This should shed more light on Leszno... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leszno and this too http://lang.leszno.pl/index.php?lang=en and this http://www.city-travel-guide.co.uk/travel-...avel-guide.html My suggestion is to stay in Poznan or Wroclaw (not sure which one is closer). Locals (if there are such ones on this forum) should be able to provide more accurate advice.

Bradford Ace
Hi Thinking of doing the Leszno GP & staying in Wroclaw but wondering what the trains are like between the 2 places?? Also, does anyone have a rough idea of the taxi fare between the 2 places as think its about an hour by car. Getting to Leszno should be no problem on the sat afternoon i'd imagine, but its more the getting back to Wroclaw from Leszno after the meeting that i think might be the problem?? Never been to Leszno before so are there a few bars there near the stadium or somewhere to decent to go if the trains dont go until later in the evening/early hours?? Any help would be much appreciated.
dazzawoki
hi there, two of us did the train thing last year and it worked out well. we got to leszno in plenty of time for the gp and arrived back in wroclaw at about 1am, train journey if i remember rightly aprox 1hr 30 mins anyway i have a link for the polish rail service here http://www.intercity.com.pl. or email this guy he helped me out no end last year Polrail Service-Jeffrey Dobek [jdobek@polrail.com] i ordered the tickets online and they were sent to me in the uk so i knew i had the tickets before i travelled. i also find it best to travel first class as it is more comfortable and the second class carriages can get busier with locals on the journey back to wroclaw and rail travel in poland is cheap as chips http://www.polrail.com/ Polrail Service ul. Kujawska 48/33 85-031 Bydgoszcz POLSKA these were the train times for last year so i cant see them being to much different this time round Travel from Wroclaw to Leszno, Saturday, 09 May 2009: * Train #P38102 * Depart Wroclaw Glowny 1035 * Arrive Leszno 1210 * 1st class, unreserved seating Travel from Leszno to Wroclaw, Saturday, 09 May 2009: * Train #D83510 * Depart Leszno 2356 * Arrive Wroclaw Glowny 0135 * 1st class, unreserved seating Travel from Leszno to Wroclaw, Sunday, 10 May 2009: * Train #P83706 * Depart Leszno 0300 * Arrive Wroclaw Glowny 0432 * 2nd class, unreserved seating (train is 2nd class only) i hope some of this helps, enjoy your trip and maybe bump into you there as we have decided to stay in leszno this year but are flying to wroclaw and will be spending the friday afternoon there before travelling to leszno early evening.
