Looks a pretty good line up!

Hopefully they'll be a big turn out of Exeter supporters with there being a fair few former Falcons in the field.

A Facebook group has just been set up to promote Seemond's Benefit Meeting on Saturday 3rd April. Please bear with us as the initial batch of news is added to the site. In the mean time here's the link to the site ..... (hope the admin don't mind me advertising this)

The latest news is that The Plymouth Speedway Supporters Club (PSSC) will proudly host the Launch Evening for Seemond's Benefit Meeting at the Novotel, Plymouth on Friday 12th February. As well as giving the fans and press an opportunity to hear the latest developments regarding this highly anticipated meeting there will be a question and answer session with Seemond and Mark Simmonds, the Devil's very own resident 'comedy duo' !!

Tickets for this evening, which starts at 7.45pm, are priced at just £2 for members of PSSC and non-members alike and will be available on the night. All children attending this evening will be given a free raffle ticket to be entered into a draw with three lucky winners being given the opportunity to be introduced to all the riders, on the startline, prior to the commencement of proceedings on Easter Saturday!

The line-up of the meeting. entitled 'The Evel Has Landed', is taking shape as we speak. Once all riders we anticipate to be riding and their respective promoters having been contacted we will issue confirmation of the meeting's participants.

Details of the meeting that I can confirm at the moment are that the gates will open at 4.30pm, with admission prices as follows :-

Adult Ticket - £11

OAP Ticket - £7

Child Ticket - £5 (between 6 and 16 years old, 5 years and under go free)

Family Ticket - £30 (admits 2 adults and 2 children)

Programme - TBA.

Best regards,

Gary Spiller

Plymouth Devils.

For those fans travelling from afar the Novotel are pleased to offer discounted rates on rooms. To obtain these very favourable rates (at the nearest hotel to St. Boniface Arena) please quote "Speedway Event". Double rooms are available at £80 and singles at £70 (including breakfast).

Anyone who requires directions / further details please free to PM myself.

I've just received this press release which states that plans for Seemond's Benefit meeting have been put on hold for 12 months.

"Plans to launch the Plymouth season with a meeting for Devils skipper Seemond Stephens have been put on hold.

It had been intended to stage an attractive meeting at the St Boniface Arena on Easter Saturday with a number of Elite League riders expressing their willingness to turn out for the popular Cornishman.

It seems, however, that the necessary permission from the sport’s ruling authorities has not been forthcoming.

Stephens is opting not to comment on the situation, but the latest situation is that plans for the meeting have been shelved pending an application for Stephens to stage a meeting sometime in 2011."

Apologies for this turn of events. Thanks to all those individuals and companies who expressed their support for Seemond and this meeting.

Best regards,

Gary Spiller

Plymouth Speedway.
