Michal is now just waiting on fixture lists to be completed, so he may ascertain the final line-up for the meeting. Riders commitments to their clubs will obviously take precedence and will eliminate a number of riders from the provisional list. Pick a winner from that lot, GP stars, Elite League international stand-outs, Premier League Number 1's and Shielfield Experts. brylcream boy
Can any one help me please. The last time we came to Berwick we stayed at a b&b on the Northumberland Road, about 200 yards before a pub on a roundabout. The b&b was next to a school or sports centre, I am not sure. The b&b stood back away from the road about 50 yards or so. and was about 10 min walk into town. I will be coming up for this meeting and would like to stay here again. Thanks for any help. Can't think of the exact one you require, as Berwick has a good tourist trade in the Summer months with a number of established B&B's in the area. I can however recommend Clovelly House in West Street, Berwick and also Cara House in Castlegate, Berwick. They are run by people who are fanatical about speedway, but get in quick as I know that a number of the competitors for the event will be looking for accomodation too. jenga
i take it that workington dont have a meeting on the 27th of march(saturday), with the inclusion of schramm and compton ! if so may as well head up to bandit country for this one. Backless
The organisation committee took the quite brilliant step of soliciting the services of more top line riders than required, as the field was assembled before the fixtures were finalised - and before all the riders had team places. That should ensure that because of fixture clashes then unknown there'd be plenty of suitable replacements. Chris Schramm wasn't a Comet when he was first announced. From the original lineup of 25, Messrs Bunyan & Havelock will be in action at Stoke v Redcar & Messrs Schramm & Compton will be in the ludicrously titled 40th Anniversary* thing in Cumbria (*it would appear that the years 1982 - 1998 inclusive all count!). Which make the original planning of Makovsky's meeting all the more astute.

Which make the original planning of Makovsky's meeting all the more astute. Prior to fixtures being announced,Michal and his Testimonial Committee thought it would be prudent to sound out a number of riders, about the possibility of riding on the 27th March at Shielfield. We were overwhelmed with the response, with very few riders not offering their services. We decided from the outset to keep an up-to-date list of riders who were available and expressed an interest in riding, realising that commitments elsewhere would take a few off the list. Leigh Adams was a bid loss, but we are working on trying to find another top-line rider to replace him as we speak. Bunyan and Havelock were committed to a Prem Trophy fixture, as were Steve Johnston and Richie Hawkins. At present both Andre Compton and Chris Schramm are pencilled in at Shielfield, however, we a realistic to think that Workington will want their, top two riders at their Ope Meeting, and will 'utilise' them at Derwant Park. Tomasz Piscz has joined the line-up after approaching Michal about the possibility.

Flipper
Sudden Sam Ermolenko, is to don his kevlars once more, to do some demonstration laps at Michal’s Testimonial Meeting on 27th March 2010. The added attraction of seeing the former world champion tackling the smooth Shielfield circuit, is sure to get many a pulse racing. Sam was only to glad to be able to help in any way with Michal’s Testimonial, honouring the 10 year Bandit. Sam was keen to lend his support, and by taking to the track once more, will revive memories of the Berwick faithful, who have seen the American legend capture the Bordernapolis title in the past, with a sublime display of skill. The USA great has many friends on Tweedside, and will be welcomed to the Borders on every visit - to which he has also accepted an invitation to Berwick Speedway’s now annual Pre-Season Bash, this year held at Berwick Holiday Centre on 6th march 2010 7.00pm start. I have been advised tickets are selling quick for this one, which includes a full variety show and buffet for only £10. Tiickets can be reserved for the 6th March event via email to admin@michalmakovsky.com.

Four riders in a race at 'super smooth Shielfield' is generally a boring spectacle, god knows how one long retired legend pootling around himself is going to get anyone's pulse racing. I presume the use of apostrophes (what - no "quotation marks"?) is supposed to sugest sarcasm. All it displays is a lack of knowledge of, and disrespect for, the huge improvements that have been made in all aspect of Speedway in Berwick, & in the track in particular. With the exception of a couple of weeks, the track has been universally praised by all manner of riders on their visits to the "new" Berwick. Still, what do they know, compared to your knowledge of track surfaces & performance. I don't suppose Sam Ermolenko wil be "pootling" round but your absence from the event will ensure a better view for at least one of those who does attend. The promotion will already be aware that they can't please all the people all the time, so let's hope they concentrate on satisfying those that matter & leave those who "don't want to see" in their own little keyboard worlds.
