Daniel Smith
Well done James Wright Should set him on his way to a great season with BV ! Thanks also to all the Edinburgh fans, I actually had a fun night and.... well.... didn't end up deceased at the end of it .... small mercies eh? Special mention to Ryan Fisher.... your a star dude, rode like a demon and a gentleman to boot! To all, this was a nice pre-warm up (the real warm up being Coventry )... but, hope this season is a complete ball for all who love speedway. See ya all soon, Bongo *;o) I suppose the biggest question of the night has to be, did you get in with last years ticket????????????
Dekker
Lets just hope that Katajisto, Wolbert, Dilger & Tabaka keep up that form as that would be just what that average manipulating team / promotion deservesbetter than having smith in your team

The meeting itself wasn't bad at all. Some very good racing, and always good to have speedway back! Felt sorry for William Lawson not being able to take his Final place, looked a really bad crash with him and Kevin. Wright came into his own when the track became slick, and he was certainly flying when it came to the crunch. Fisher looked very much on the pace, ditto Tully who was devastatingly quick when he hit the front. SCOTLAND1314
Ahhh speedway. Tonight's Legendary Scottish Open was a thoroughly enjoyable evening of entertainment. The track in absolutely tremendous shape... that man Bridgett and team do it again. Early pace setters Doolan and Fisher both came a cropper in their 4th and 5th rides respectively which resulted in them ending in the semi final (more on this later). Wolbert had a night to forget, taking a heavy fall in his first race and an even heavier tumble in his last. One of those real shocking looking ones with the unlucky Lawson also getting caught in the 3rd bend stramash, bikes and bodies flying everywhere. Lawson's injuries prevented him from participating in the semi. Heat 15 also saw a shocker of a crash, with The Raj rearing from gate 2, forcing Dilger onto the centre green and from there the German's bike took a liking to the grass and shot off without him, narrowly missing the cameramen, and plunging into the first/second bend just as Grieves and Katajisto entered turn 2.... you can guess the rest. A miracle that the Scot and Fin walked away relatively unhurt. As for those that reached the final direct, Compton was solid if unspectacular with Tully and Wright being slow burners both doing the majority of their scoring in their last 3 rides. Both notably beating The Fish, with Tully doing it over four laps of close quarters racing but Wright benefiting from the Fish's tumble (looked like problem with front forks to me.. but could be wrong). Up to the semi the racing had been enjoyable with the four laps more often than not being competitve. However, the semi final took it up a notch. Clews was left trailing from the off, with the Fish swooping around Wethers and Doolan on the first/second turn (a move that proved very productive for a few of the night's riders). The crowd expected The Fish to kick on but Doolan wasn't for having it and took off in pursuit, however Kevin also didn't reckon for Wethers and his equally productive inside moves. Four laps of ding dong close quarters racing with 2nd and 3rd being exchanged on nearly every bend with The Fish just keeping his nose ahead of the eventual 2nd placed Wethers and Doolan 3rd. Take a bow chaps... a cracker of a race. Incidentally it was the 21st race on the track.... that man Bridgett...worth his weight in gold. The final didn't quite meet up to the semi's standards but Fish's efforts to get off gate one and across Wright from gate four almost came off. Sadly Tully off the unfavoured gate 2 over cooked his cut back and came off and Compton a remote 3rd. IMO Edinburgh promotion thoroughly vindicated re lineup, with 2 race points covering 7 riders and a very healthy attendance. Bring on next week's meeting with the visit from the Darkside from the west, when the vertical hoops are in town.
ft026
Lets just hope that Katajisto, Wolbert, Dilger & Tabaka keep up that form as that would be just what that average manipulating team / promotion deserves Just have to laugh when it's a KL fan. Pretty good meeting tonight, with close racing and some nice passes. There were quite a few big looking crashes so I hope that all concerned are going to be ok. Very impressed with Max Dilger, he looked like a different rider ... as did Kevin Wolbert , he'll be fine though, it just wasn't his night. DavyH
Wolbert had 2 nasty falls - in his 1st and last rides, I am sure normal service will be resumed next week and every week thereafter!
Warm&Cosy
Wolbert had 2 nasty falls - in his 1st and last rides, I am sure normal service will be resumed next week and every week thereafter! i think last night shows everythin, woelbert the only guy running new silencers and he looked crap compared to what we no what he can do, also 2 nasty falls certainly the first one i think was caused by the use of the silencer as the bike just lost all momentum and locked up on him, once he gets back to old silencers he will be fine
SCOTLAND1314
It transpires Wolbert blew his best Armadale engine, in the pits: http://www.edinburghspeedway.com/news/article.asp?id=820 Let's all hope this is his only bad night of the season. SCOTLAND1314
Well after a most enjoyable Scottish Open meeting I just wonder what Embra fans and those of other persuasions thought of the Embra performances so far. For my money: The Fish looks at his battling best Wolbert... well er we'll let him have one bad meeting Wethers looked very sharp and was very competitve Tully looks very fast and defeated a hard charging Fish Tabaka looked very interested in his first race but struggled a wee bit thereafter, but he'll take a few meetings to get up to speed. On the whole though he looks keen. Kalle perhaps deserved a point or two more but did find the going pretty tough, by the looks of things. Dilger on the other hand looked a different rider to last season, could he be the secret weapon? But for me Doc Bridgett should praised highly for an impeccable racing strip. In summary good start... better to come.

Merlin
Just for interest and for those who do care (the others can stop reading here ). Kevin Wolbert blew his Armadale engine in the pits before the meeting started and had to use the GM he reserves for the big tracks. That bike had one of the new silencers fitted to it which affected its performance. His crash in heat 4 resulted from the GM picking up too much grip on the fourth bend catapulting him towards the fence. The crash in his last race left him with sore ribs and sore..err..other parts plus a wrecked bike. Kall Katajisto was unfortunate in that due to a combination of circumstances his Armadale Java didn't arrive at the track until too late for it to be fitted to the chassis he had for it. This meant that he too had to us his 'big track' GM which is totally unsuitable for the smaller tracks. If Max Dilger had not had bad luck he wouldn't have had any luck at all. His two crashes (neither were his fault) has left him with badly bruised ribs at least plus a damaged bike.
