Page 97 - footnote on the bottom of the page should relate to page 120 (Leicester Factsheet)

Page 154 - Bert Harkins rides in Match 42 (v Belle Vue) not match 41

Page 169 - Bonus points omitted for Match 51 - Clarke 1, Cope 2, Cooper 1, Fisher 1

Page 203 - Match results for matches 29 & 30 are reversed

Page 222 - Bonus points omitted for match 48 - Clark 1, Hines 1, Matthews 2

Page 248 - Wright did not ride in Match 1

Is there any way of checking the scores for this match ? Checking the heat results gives a final score of Workington 29 Teeside 19 with Hindle on 4, Newton on 5 and Emerson on 2 being the variants. Any ideas ?

Parsloes, intrigued by your 'ill-fated' comment ? I remember about Ian, very tragic, but don't recollect anything regarding the other 7. I've seen a number 8 used similarly but only when that team didn;t think they had a chance and couldn't get anyone else to go out !

 

Sorry...: "ill-fated" was just me suffering from another attack of 'programme editor hyperbolism'!!

Meant nothing beyond they were ill-fated in this particular truncated three heat match..: in which, as you say, by using the number 8 so early perhaps suggested they felt they were in for a pasting!!

This is an error in the published results in the Speedway Star, it looks likely that the error occurs in heats 3 and 5. To obtain the correct riders scores it would have to be Hindle (1st) and Newton (3rd) in heat 3 whilst in heat 5 Emerson (2nd) and Newton (3rd).

 

Can any Comets fans confirm this ?
