Parsloes 1928 nearly
Parsloes, intrigued by your 'ill-fated' comment ? I remember about Ian, very tragic, but don't recollect anything regarding the other 7. I've seen a number 8 used similarly but only when that team didn;t think they had a chance and couldn't get anyone else to go out ! Sorry...: "ill-fated" was just me suffering from another attack of 'programme editor hyperbolism'!! Meant nothing beyond they were ill-fated in this particular truncated three heat match..: in which, as you say, by using the number 8 so early perhaps suggested they felt they were in for a pasting!! Cheers This is an error in the published results in the Speedway Star, it looks likely that the error occurs in heats 3 and 5. To obtain the correct riders scores it would have to be Hindle (1st) and Newton (3rd) in heat 3 whilst in heat 5 Emerson (2nd) and Newton (3rd). Can any Comets fans confirm this ?
