Halloween Trophy @ Weymouth

Recommended Posts

Couldn't see a thread started so thought I would.

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm.

Thanks

c/o Weymouth Website:

The Weymouth Doonan Wildcats bring the curtain down on an eventful season tonight with the Halloween Trophy (7.15pm). The individual event sees a host of top riders gather at the Wessex Bus Raceway and fight for supremacy on the track. The format has changed from a 20-race handicap to 12 qualifying races with two semi-finals and a final to follow.

But Wildcats’ team manager Jem Dicken is still confident of an action-packed evening. He said: “We’ve had to change the format because there simply aren’t enough riders available to ride. We’ve been unfortunate that the second leg of the National League play-off final is now being held tonight because that immediately took out five riders for us, as the likes of Jay Herne will now be involved in that instead. James White-Williams is injured and Tim Webster has sent all his equipment to New Zealand ready for a trip there, so they can’t ride either.

“We’ll still have a very competitive line-up and there’s £250 up for grabs so I’m sure they will be going all out for victory. It’s also the last chance for the supporters to see some action until next April.”

Wildcats Terry Day and James Cockle will be joined by Simon Lambert (Scunthorpe), Darren Mallett (King’s Lynn), Alexander Edberg (Team Viking), Ben Hopwood (Isle of Wight), Richard Andrews (Buxton) and ex-Cat Karl Mason (Newport) with the rest of the line-up still to be finalised as the Echo went to press.

No Benji Compton? Bit of a nightmare having to find riders at such a late stage with the re arranged fixture at Plymouth. Last year was a really entertaining meeting hope its as entertaining this year. Hopefully a Wildcat will land the spoils and get some silverware.
