Mark Jones! :)

Recommended Posts

A little birdy tells me he won the meeting too :D

Update to this is a meeting report that was posted by Howard on the yahoogroups speedway list ....................

Just home from Undera & Broadford, I'll split the reports into two.

On a track where the riders I spoke to all said they liked and loved racing on

Undera had a really enjoyable meeting. Highlight for me was the return to the

track of Mark Jones and it wouldn't have mattered to me how he went, I was just

glad to see him back where I think he belongs. Turns out he won the meeting !!

In the heats he had three wins from his first three outings and a third place in

his last heat where he knew he was in the final and was happy to stay third

after that's where he found himself after they gated.

In the final it was a terrific tussle in the first attempted running between

Mark (red) and Jake Anderson (yellow). There was never more than a bike length

in it with Jones gating, Anderson passing Jones up the inside on lap 2 and Jones

returning the compliment soon after. On turn 3 of lap 3 Anderson went in hard

looking to go underneath Jones again but unfortunately came unstuck. Jones won

the rerun fairly easily and to be honest the gap of two years since he last rode

didn't look to have lessened his skill on a bike at all. After the meeting he

said more than anything he was pleased he hadn't forgotten how to pass

(referring to the pass on Jake Anderson in the final).

"As far as I know Mark's next meeting is a club day at Broadford in two weeks time (Nov 14th). That should be followed by another Broadford club day on Nov 29th and then the Victorian State titles on Dec 12th again at Broadford. That's the ones in Victoria I know about and will be going to but I'm not sure if he's planning on travelling north for any other meetings.

Mark does know people in the UK are looking out for him, he even knew who I was talking about when I told him a certain young lady put something on the BSF about him !!"

I will try and keep this thread updated as much as possible, Thanks to Lunchy on the Kings Lynn unofficial fans forum for the info.

Just thought id add that i was at both meetings and watched Mark ride with interest as id never seen him ride before.

He looked smooth , and fast , so i presume nothing has changed, i had my lad up at the fence at Undera watching him to pick up some tips.

Nice to catch up with other forum members, and would like to thank the people involved with both Undera and Broadford for a friendly weekend.

Nine rides at Broadford for Robert was great experience, but came home with one buggered bike.

Cheers Darrell Branford

Aww I hope that Mark helped your young lad get some good tips.

Oh no, not good about the buggered bike, hope you get it sorted?

Nice to see Robert got some rides whilst there.

Thanks for that turns out it was just the bearing in the clutch that went, sounded like a bigend at first.

Was making a horrible noice.

Does anyone have full A grade points for both meetings.

Cheers Chopper

Meeting was cancelled @ Broadford for Mark Jones, as not enough riders were there to ride.

Next scheduled ride 2 weeks time.

Mark was dissapointed that the meeting was called off @ Broadford however is now looking forward to the 29th again at Broadford and then again at Broadford the Victorian States will be held on Dec 12th. Mark is looking forward to these meetings and is enjoying being back on a bike.
