It's great to see the meeting back to where it was with some of the best young riders taking part.

Long way to go to match the glory days of this meeting in the 1970s when all the top riders were queueing up to take part in this meeting.

It has now sadly become little more than a talent spotting meeting.

Does anyone know why season tickets aren't valid?

Everything was better in the 70's. Wonder how Darcy would have faired back then...

Dissappointed that season tickets are not valid.

I'm not really sure how useful a tool this meeting is for taking a look at new talent.

The handicap formula puts a rider back 20 yards if he wins a heat - and if he hasn't been to the track before it is difficult to guage how good he is if he isn't familiar with lines to ride.

In the 70 s Darcy would probably have not got a look in at this meeting - he would probably have been invited to some form of challenge match when his and other new riders talent could have been better judged.

Well i happen to know someone who's great company who is also thinking of going!!

Bridger and Harris listed on website too now.

Good stuff! I'll let you know later in the week...: hopefully in person on Thursday...? How did the coat-buying tactic go..? I went with the 'put her on a plane to Spain' ruse this morning...: hence me being brave about Monday...!!!

C'mon Wolves, i know you've all had a well earned bender this week, but its 2 days till this meeting and only 7 of the 16 are named(Plus Kenny Ingalls mentioned on the US Dream Team thread) and some of us will be travelling far for this and would like to know who will be there.

Is it just the Wolves boys filling the other places?

Good set of riders already released and of course i'm hoping for at least a couple of newbies to the Uk to cross of my list!!

The inference in the Star is that all seven of the title-winning Wolves will ride plus those listed by superguest above and Ingalis as you mention, David..

That makes 16.

I do think personally it's a bit of a shame to have so many home riders in the line-up: only because it reduces the interest overall in the field which is after all an individual (and a very long standing one at that - dating back as far as I can see to 1966 when Briggo won it at Newcastle...). However I can see in the circumstances that as a 'homecoming' after their heroics at Swindon the club would want to give Monmore Green fans a chance to celebrate with them all..

Let me jinx his chances by predicting a surprise win for Darcy Ward...
