Classic At Newport

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to post that the track was in A1 condition when I left at 3pm and a few riders from Scandanavia turned up and were more than happy with it aswell.

Must admit it was hardly Barbados over there so if you're bringing young children make sure they have plenty of layers on

We are bitterly disappointed that Robert Henderson will not be racing in the Classic tomorrow. We were informed that he was ill with a fever and could not make the flight. We have spent the whole day today trying to find a replacement and Luke Bowen has kindly stepped in at the 11th hour to do the meeting --thanks go to him for this.

If it is true that he is racing elsewhere we feel seriously let down by him and his advisers.

We are grateful that the rest of the Scandinavians are here.....let's look forward to a great meeting tomorrow.

Gates open at 11am with first at 1pm sharp.

Thinking of you freezing your goolies off, Laurence; I reckon you'd better jump on a plane next Northern Winter and enjoy some Aussie Hospitality.

All the best for today's meeting.

The weather has been extreme this year and looks like it ain't going to change for a few weeks yet.

I hope Newport goes ahead and is an entertaining spectacle.

Sorry for being kill Joy but is it not time plug was pulled on these out of season meetings? They can be ok but a farce too witness Scunthorpe one, riders pulling out, two rider races etc aand in lap of gods with weather!

As previously posted the weather is not as bad as it was predicted to be (was sunny but cold today!) and we are looking forward --as are a lot of people -- to the Classic. We naturally cannot predict what will happen but have two reserves on hand to cover and aim to have four rider races !!

You tend to get riders pulling out of individual meetings, its just the way it goes. With the weather, its probably worse in July than it is in January (rain wise)!! It would be good if they could get outdoor heating like some of the bars do though!

well said - simple answer to a stupid statement - why pull the plug on something just because he doesn't like it - prevoius runnings of this event seem to have attracted a large crowd so some people obviouly like the event
