chunky
Even though I am now digressing slightly, norbold's earlier post about there not being an online resource for this information perhaps gave me the nudge I needed. Being the anorak that I am, I have compiled a number of spreadsheets regarding individual World Finals, some concerning valuable statistics, and some not so valuable statistics, merely interesting! I hope to have all the information posted on a new website over the next few months. Steve

chunky
Trust me, I'm not going to hide it, and this will be the first place to know! It is probably going to be a little while, as I have some other sites which are taking priority. I'm hoping to have it up sometime in the spring. BOBBATH
Hi all-re Aub lawson , what's amazing is that he was in a run off for World Final third place in both 1958 and 1959 when he was well in his forties-in fact he beat both Fundin and Briggs in a heat in 1959 when he would have been 44 and his opponents in their mid twenties. How about that!! BTW I guess the oldest World Champion has to be Greg Hancock at 41.

I figure it is (months are approx) : Hancock (41) Mauger (39 and 11 months) Gollob (39 and 5 months) Price (37) Nielsen (35 and 9 months) Rickardsson (35 and 1 month) Muller (34 and 10 months) Fundin (34 and 5 months) Crump (34 and 1 month) Olsen (31 and 10 months) Briggs (31 and 9 months) Pedersen N (31 and 5 months) Michanek (31 and 3 months) Steve
spiegal
Each year we produce a Christmas Card from the John Chaplin collection featuring riders from 1940/1950 period. This year the card features Cyril Roger in full flight. I have in fact sent Cyril a "special" card, with a personal message and hopefully the old boy will respond. Always an interesting family, and by all accounts he is in "rude" health. Edited December 12, 2011 by spiegal
