pirateandi
Thrilled at tonights results ,zorro fantastic totally deserves his place on tonights showing , holder completely focused from the off knew what he had to do and did it , hampel always in the mix and seemed comfortable through out the meeting , some spectacular crashes but pleased no one was badly hurt and hope zorro`s not to sore after those two crashes , overall a good night with an unexpectedly large crowd put pay to some whingers on this forum
Gemini
I feel sorry for all the fans that are stuck with boredom on the terraces with such long gaps. Especially those who may have travelled long distances to the meeting, it's going to be well into tomorrow before they get home..... The only long gaps were caused by crashes and the aftermath of them. Can't do anything about that unfortunately. BeesFan
Congrats to the qualifiers, pretty dire meeting that dragged on. Zorro had abit of luck with reruns twice while he was stone last but thats speedway. bigger crowd than expected, but needed more dirt down for the likes of Harris
Pollyanna
Holder great...Magnus will be totally outclassed in the series and doesn't enhance it at all imho. Hampel is not a surprising qualifier either. Think Lindgren should be OK to stay in of his own volition. Others may have to wait on the wildcards... Well done Zorro and Chris and Jarek. Very pleased that Jarek is back in the GPs. Fantastic that Chris Holder has qualified - he deserves his place. Very surprised at Zorro's success, but he's done it. Dekker
We are turning into a country of wingers I hate to say.Playing on the left or right? Tbh none of the Brits excite me at this level, Harris got lucky once and Lee R isnt consistent enough. Until some one does i doubt there is much point with the GPs. FTM
So how come the surface produced such poor racing it seems by the comments here? Most of the riders were going at it hammer and tongs the track had plenty of dirt on which is what most fans wanted IMO and nearly all of the crashes were due to two or more riders being in the same place at the same time apart from Pepe parking it on the fourth bend causing Chris to run into him . I hope most fans were happy with a track which had quite a lot of dirt on it as opposed to the last two (in particular) and also others throughout the year being run on the slick side But then again fans moan cos its slick and fans moan cos it dragged on due to the crashes on a deep surface TRACKMEN CAN,T WIN cheers Mick Edited September 19, 2009 by FTM
Pinny
chuffed that zorro is in... he may be a total prat but hes more entertaining than nicholls and harris. hope no brits are nominated. if they insist on a brit it must be richardson. gone well in all 3 leagues in 2009, unlike nicholls and harris. SteveEvans
I actually think this result pretty much gives Freddie & Chris a GP spot. Reason? The organizers won't run the series without a full time Brit, and they will look for any plausible reason to make it happen. They won't want their jewel in the crown Cardiff round without a full time Brit. They can't justify Nicholls as he has been clear 15th all year. They can't justify Tai as he got eliminated too early. They can't justify Richardson as he didn't even do the qualifers. They can't justify Harris on GP form, but they could if they 'put the top 5 from the GP challenge in.' Holder, as expected, earned his spot. Hampel is no surprise. Zorro is a major shock, and though he is not my favorite rider by any means, the old romantic in me loves the fact that, just like the old world final days, there is a shock qualifier for the series. Reminds me of the likes of Rick Miller making a World Final when you could never say he was a top 16 rider, but like Zorro, no one can say he didn't rightfully earn his place. I don't think the organizrs will have a problem with 3 Swedes - there are 3 Dane's and 4 Poles right now. It's not like Zorro will be in for more than one year. I would expect, on tonights result, the bottom 3 excluding Harris to lose their GP spots in 2010 and the rest will be joined by tonights top 3. Chris Harris, IMO will be saved by the fact the series needs a Brit and right now there is no way you can explain any other Brit being in. You're probably right there SteveEvans, but he should'nt as he does not deserve it. Apart from one flash of brilliance at Cardiff, he has been pretty mediocre throughout his GP 'career'. Do we HAVE to have a British rider as a wild card at Cardiff? If there wasn't one, would the place be empty?, I doubt it because at the end of the day speedway supporters want to see, theoretically, the best riders riding in one place at one time. Formula 1 motor racing does not, I believe, use wild cards at their various venues, and I don't believe it detracts from attendances, it is only speedways' administrators who seem to be of the opinion that supporters are so blinkered that they will not attend an event if one of their countrymen is not riding. If they do go for a British wildcard, then go down the same route that Lyons has in the WTC, go for the future and choose a youngster. To avoid confusion in this topic, the full-time riders chosen to appear in the series are "nominated riders", the riders chosen to take the 16 race-jacket in individual GPs are "Wild Card riders". Grachan
As for the idea of Lindback getting a wild card pick, no chance. Where was he tonight, he was supposed to be meeting reserve, why pick him if he can't be arsed to be there Was Lindback supposed to be there though? He was stand-by reserve if someone dropped out but that's not neccesarily the same as being the meeting reserve. I really don't see why Lindback and Zagar should get a place having not even qualified for this meeting.
iris123
Not so happy with Zorro and Hampel getting through.Ok,Hampel might be there or there abouts, but is about as interesting as a bopok on carburetor adjustments Then you can't always expect the top 16 riders to be the most exciting.Very glad to see Holder in though
iceandspeedway
congrats to Noddy holder, a new rider to next years series, dont expect a repeat of the emil results but a great addition, regards the wild card nominee,s now very intersting and no Brits in the field originally cant see one rider who is good enough to be picked, very sad for British speedway but time to add to the agenda for the next bspa meeting what can we do for the future to get Britian back , my suggestion for starters is bring in some test matches both here and abroad for experience at least . My nominees next year would be and call me biased.. Leigh Adams, matej zager, hans andersen, antonio lindback, outsiders.. tia woffinden, purely because of the no brits in the GP,PLease no more nichols and Harris had there chances and done nothing to enhance the Gp series this years table is a embarrassement to British speedway. Time for the GP SERIES TO start to deliver raceable tracks too.

racers and royals
Surprised no-one has mentioned Kenneth Bjerre, he is under real pressure in the last 2 GP`s now to cement his place in the top 8.(only 8 pts clear of Holta in 9th ).As for the british rider in the series, and its a certainty that there will be one i think it all depends on Tai Woffindens performance in the world u21 final-if he wins the title i think he will be nominated. Zorro was leading when Nieminen wiped him out on the 2nd crash! There was tons down, it was just soaking wet for the first 6 or 7 races and boasted a massive inside 2 gates advantage early on.
