lindback + zagar should get the wildcards on ability (also entertainment). can't get excited by rico in the gp's. why have a permanent brit if none can really compete with the big boys?

They showed great abilty in failing to even qualify for todays final.. I am with Grachan on this Harris and Pepe are next in line for wild cards assuming Lindgren gets in. They both bothered to ride the qualifiers, made the final and scored the points. If Zagar and Lindback were that good they would have been there tonight!

As long as no likely top 8 rider suffers a bad injury one year the wild card nominations imo should be 9th and 10th in season and 4 & 5 in Challenge..

Zorro in the GPs will be entertaining - hes a trier and will go for every point - its great hes got his chance

im sure we will see the dancing if he wins - certainly more showmanship and character than almost the whole current GP line up

this is how riders SHOULD get into the GP - on merit - not just picked because theyre face fits

And proof again a rider isnt at peak until 30+

Its the same with Davey Watt - who id love to have seen qualify - purely because these guys are real racers

In all fairness Emil Saifutdinov is a bit of a freak in that hes so good at a young age - I think its cool theres more of a mix now.

Scrap the picks and just put in people on merit. Saifutdinov deserved his place this year due to winning the u21s twice.

I dont agree with just putting in a Brit coz they have to - it isnt right for Harris or Nicholls to get a place time and time again without being good enough to qualify.

I also believe current GP riders SHOULDNT be allowed in the qualifiers until the following season.

Ah, but the wild cards seemed to be picked on nationality rather than ability....

Just arrived back after my first meeting since the closure of Oxford and enjoyed it. Racing was pretty dire and whether people think Zetterstrom will be good for the GP's or not he deserves his place by coming through a whole series of qualifiers and has more right than any of the BSI 'picks' to his place.

One thing having not been to Coventry for about 4/5 years is that the whole presentation there is just so tired. It hasn't moved on in that time and probably the 20 years before that. Please somebody retire Peter York, he is really a bit of an embarrassment

Surprised at the crowd, much larger than I was expecting and by 11pm was bored and didn't stay for the run off

As for the idea of Lindback getting a wild card pick, no chance. Where was he tonight, he was supposed to be meeting reserve, why pick him if he can't be arsed to be there

went along at the last minute (the GPs don't generally float my boat) and was amazed to find thirty or forrty cars parked up on the grass verges and programmes totally sold out by 7.40pm.

racing wasn't great, but hats off to Zorro - after twice suffering very heavy falls in the same race and being horizontal on the track both times for well over five minutes on each occasion, he deserved everything he got and more.

Because Lindback is one of the best and most exciting riders in the world?

Being there on 'merit' is all well and good, but the GP like it or not is about attracting fans. Lindback puts bums on seats.

But he was reserve for tonights meeting and was not there. Doesn't show any commitment to the GP so for me he should not get a pick

Juist my opinion

This forum never ceases to amaze me if you lot were to get behind a brit for a change in stead of slagging them off it may just lift there spirits a bit !, im guessing many of you havn't even riden one of those things & risked your life doing so, its so easy to stand on the terracing or get on here & voice your comments you should all be ashamed of yourselves. My point being every other country gets behind there riders we dont & until we do we will never succeed & that goes for everything in this country. We are turning into a country of wingers I hate to say. As for the results Holder was expected but fair play to Magnus & why shouldnt he be in there hes now there on merrit !, as for wild cards they should go to riders who deserve it !.

There ive had my say & will not respond to bitchers etc have a good day !.

yes, it seemed odd that both reserves couldn't be arsed to turn up. Risager, meanwhile, came close to beating Holder.

agree with you Chris about the tired presentation at Brandon, although I think 'Bart' Simpson and cohorts' music selection does add a lot and keep boredom at bay in the long breaks (and we sure had a few tonight with seemingly half the field having heavy falls)

Not something I'd write home about , but at least there is a new Aussie in the GP's :approve:.

Zorro

I feel very bad for some of the people who felt very let down tonight, having travelled a long way....

The highlights for me....Holder getting through and the vocal passionate and entertaining Polish fans :D You'd have thought Hampel had won it :D

Foreign riders ride these same 'dangerous' bikes, and at the moment our lot cant keep up with them.

Ive wasted enough of my time supporting Nicholls cheers. Harris and Richardson have both had their chance as well.

I always get behind the British riders, but are they somehow immune to constructive criticism.

The fact of the matter is NO British rider deserves a place. Why should one get a place simply because they are British? if the 16 best riders in the world were from Afghanistan then those 16 should be in the GP. Too much politics.

wildcards are exactly that, wildcards. should the places have been given on merit then 5 riders should have qualified tonight, or from some similar series of meetings.

on the basis that 2 wildcards is the chosen selection criteria then riders with the ability to best enhance the gp spectacle should be selected. i'd much rather see a zagar or lindback mixing it up than rico trailing round at the back. it seems rather unfair for a brit to be selected on the basis that none can get there on merit.

Well done Zorro. Totally on merit; was the best rider on the night (although at times Holder was doing a pretty good Crump impersonation!) Loved the passion :) I too was surprised by the crowd. Biggest since we won the League. Now, where can I get a Bees version of one of those really big flags the Poles had.......

Oh and I think Bomber deserves a wild card. His last two races (and for that matter Cardiff 2 years ago) proves he can do it. Both he and Scott have just had total 'mares this season

But then Harris didn't bother last year yet still got a place. I have to be honest Harris seems to get away with far more than Nicholls, a few meetings apart (one in particular he is still dining off) he has been pretty crap in the GP's, yet he seems to escape the kind of flak Scott receives. How many series has he actually qualified in the top 8? How many has Nicholls managed? I'm willing to bet that Nicholls has done far more in this respect, although I would be the first to admit he Mr Nicholls doesn't deserve a 2010 place.

Regarding this meeting, gutted that Zetterstrom has qualified, a total tosspot at times in the mould of Lukas Dryml (ask SCB), but then this might add some entertainment to a dull GP series.

JT.
