colincooke
You can see from Slav's piccies there is plenty of dirt on the track. FTM are you doing the track on a regular basis now? Tis very true SJ that the camera never lies.I've just spotted yours truly on file 66 as well . I take my hat off to Zorro here, thrown about like a rag doll in Heat 15 & comes out on top, i do agree though that i'm unsure about what he'll add to GP, character though is one thing for certain. Noddy thoroughly deserves his chance to prove himself at that level & let's hope he can add some spice in a similar way that Emil has. Jarek is proven GP class so deserves to be there again, don't expect him to be in the EL next year though. So who will get nominations? IF Nicki drops out of the top 8, he will, same goes for Freddie, if they both stay in i expect the 1st nomination to go to Holta, the 2nd to Andersen & the 3rd & 4th between Harris, Lindback & Iversen. As some have said i can't see SKY or B.S.I/IMG going for no Brits in the series, right or wrong that's how i see it.
philfromcov
Note to IMG: how about a long overdue restructuring of the whole GP so that you can make more out of hyping up the qualifiers (customer interest and TV interest) and get out of this stupid idea of 'picking' who should be in the GP. Picks seem to be based on politics/ country presence. So an idea....... have two GP Challenges which you could call GP Semi finals (!!!!) rotated around different countries, run on the same weekend (Sat and Sun) with the top 4 from each going through to join the 8 from the previous GP. Or take the top 3 from each Semi, keep the top 9 from previous year and hold one back for the winner of the world U 21. Sturture the rounds that feed into the two semi finals - have a sreies of quarter finals and brand them all which will also increase the potential TV exposure. The quarter finals can then be fed by some riders from the Country finals (ie British final feeds top 6 into the QFs etc) i have a different idea. the gp should have 24 riders. the saturday before(or the friday rather than a practice) the bottom 16 race for top 8 positions, to get into the gp, joing ther top 8 from previous gp if you then fail to get into the last 8 you have to go the qualifing round, only the top 8 are guaeteed to be in the next gp, you would then have lots of movement and new faces. salty
Nice idea, but I can't see them going back to more riders. The move down to 16 riders a few years ago was to cut costs and I can't see a reversal of policy in the pipeline. There seems to be an obsession with introducing "fresh" faces, but the reality is that on the whole those "youngsters" touted are not capable of surviving long term in the series. In recent years the likes of Zagar, Lindback, Lindgren, Kasprzak have all failed to make the top 8 whilst the much maligned oldies like Hancock, Adams and Holta do. Surely the GP's should be about the top 15 riders in the world, regardless of age, if the newcomers are good enough they will qualify of right (like Holder), or if nominated (like Emil) will prove themselves at the top level. Because of the back up required, both in terms of finance and support team, I do feel riders should be given a couple of years to establish themselves in the GP's. leighton
You're probably right. Its cr*p though. The best 16 riders should be in it, irrespective of nationality. Heres the top 16 in world rankings based on all leagues 1 Jason Crump 8.24 2 Nicki Pedersen 7.80 3 Emil Sayfutdinov 4 Tomasz Gollob 7.34 5 Greg Hancock 6 Jarosław Hampel 7.25 7 Leigh Adams 8 Fredrik Lindgren 7.13 9 Rune Holta 6.85 10 Andreas Jonsson 6.81 11 Wiesław Jaguś 12 Piotr Protasiewicz 6.67 13 Adrian Medziński 6.51 14 Ryan Sullivan 6.50 15 Chris Holder 6.45 16 Lee Richardson 6.37. Antonio Lindback is ranked as 27 in the world add to that fact that he didnt even qualify for the grand prix challenge then he clearly does not warrant a wild card pick. London Witch
The moanin minnies are out in force again I see. I got home at 2.30 this morning, partially due to a junction on the M1 being closed and a traffic jam building up on the diversion but I'm not complaining. Thought the track was fine, and particularly enjoyed watching the Poles out in the dirt. Not a fan of Zorro's and wouldn't choose to have him in the GP's, but we got caught up in all the drama and on the night he deserved all he got. A few nasty looking crashes, how Bjerre got up and walked away amazed me. A good night. Well done Zorro, Chris and JAREK HAMPEL JAREK!!! oakdalepirate
chuffed that zorro is in... he may be a total prat but hes more entertaining than nicholls and harris. hope no brits are nominated. if they insist on a brit it must be richardson. gone well in all 3 leagues in 2009, unlike nicholls and harris. I would like to know why Zorro is a total 'prat' or a 'tosser' as JT called him. On what basis?

Zorro was also seeded into the semi. Edited September 19, 2009 by Ghostwalker
Gemini
What about the 8.15 start or in Heat 2 where every rider went back to the pits as opposed to the mechanics bringing fuel to them. Can't say I noticed what time the actual racing started as I was too busy chatting to friends I hadn't seen for a while. However, I agree with you about riders returning to the pits as that annoys me too. That's one thing I noticed at Sheffield & Somerset recently - once a race had been stopped the riders immediately went back to the tapes whereas at Coventry the "pits gate" is moved to allow the riders to go back in. Just no need for it sometimes. Edited September 19, 2009 by Gemini
superguest
Way to go mango!!!!!!!!! What a great night to be a Poole fan. Holder in the GPs and joined by Pirates legend mango!! Cracking open the Champers I was saving for a special occassion. Nothing much more special than this!!!! Until Holder gets hurt riding on these slick rutted up tracks or his form drops off in Britian with 15 Gp's planned for 2010, along with Polish and Swedish fixtures Edited September 19, 2009 by superguest
alanpriddy
Don't think its much to do with the dirt. The track is not great for passing and perhaps the event should ave been held where the racing would be a bit better. Rarely been to Brandon and seen loads of passing in dozens of visits. SO WHY BOTHER GOING THERE THEN???? YOU REALLY DO TALK OUT OF YOUR BACKSIDE
Steve Shovlar
SO WHY BOTHER GOING THERE THEN???? YOU REALLY DO TALK OUT OF YOUR BACKSIDE To support me team? No other reason to go there. Racing at Brandon on the whole is rubbish. Read the thoughts of Coventry fans every week. They also agree that on the whole the track produces poor racing. What was it like last night? I wasn't there but there were plenty that were and the consensus is thatracing was again rubbish with hardly any passing. Looks like a lot of fans talk out of their backsides according to you.
superguest
I'd would usually agree with you on the Brandon front but I have actually seen some pretty good races at Brandon this year.

JT
I would like to know why Zorro is a total 'prat' or a 'tosser' as JT called him. On what basis? Read my post again. I said he can be a 'tosspot' on track, not a 'tosser' off it. Let's just say he can be quite partial to the blatant left turn on the straight or flick of his rear wheel if things don't go his way. Saying that at least he wears his heart on his sleeve, I half expected the dour duo of Protasiewicz and Walasek to qualify again... JT. Bobbin' Along
This forum never ceases to amaze me if you lot were to get behind a brit for a change in stead of slagging them off it may just lift there spirits a bit !, im guessing many of you havn't even riden one of those things & risked your life doing so, its so easy to stand on the terracing or get on here & voice your comments you should all be ashamed of yourselves. My point being every other country gets behind there riders we dont & until we do we will never succeed & that goes for everything in this country. We are turning into a country of wingers I hate to say. As for the results Holder was expected but fair play to Magnus & why shouldnt he be in there hes now there on merrit !, as for wild cards they should go to riders who deserve it !. There ive had my say & will not respond to bitchers etc have a good day !. Oh boy - I love that old chestnut. I've been waiting for it to arrive.... I can say what I want, when I want on this forum - within reason and the rules, of course. 'Tis my opinion and I have a right to it - just as it's you're right to be insistent that I can't criticise anyone on a bike because I haven't actually sat on one and ridden it in anger. Foreign riders ride these same 'dangerous' bikes, and at the moment our lot cant keep up with them. Ive wasted enough of my time supporting Nicholls cheers. Harris and Richardson have both had their chance as well. I always get behind the British riders, but are they somehow immune to constructive criticism. The fact of the matter is NO British rider deserves a place. Why should one get a place simply because they are British? if the 16 best riders in the world were from Afghanistan then those 16 should be in the GP. Too much politics. I agree with most of this. We live in a fabulous country where we can choose who to support. And we have the freedom of speech. I chose therefore not to support a British rider. And equally, Stouffer can choose toblindly support a British rider. just because he's British. Isn't it wonderful?
Steve Turner
This was a truly awful meeting, livened up only by some spectacular crashes. Embarrassing winner. Holder superb. Lindgren looked tired. Harris left his talent in the back of the van...until it was all too late of course. Massive crowd must largely have left disappointed. But thanks to the mate who shared the evening with me, I still had a good time
