Edward Barrett
Apologies if this has come up before, but......................................these riders are supposed to be the 16 BEST riders in the world, ( well, Nicholls is in there also ), surely they should have the skill and experience to ride any track? They, along with us supporters, know what track Olsen is going to prepare, he's done it for long enough!, so surely for them to use the arguement 'the track caught me out' can't be an excuse all the time. We get told that they have 2/3 bikes, use different set ups for different tracks. They ride 2, 3, maybe 4 times a week on varying surfaces, so as I say, surely they can cope with the surface that Olsen prepares for them? No doubt the technically minded can provide a reasoned answer to this, but this is just a thought from a non technically minded person!! Mrs mark246
What a great post. I totally agree. One rider also showed last night that you can win from all gate positions. Crump also watched and then went out to win on yellow. Holta won off of white after Emil showed how it was done. It is also interesting to watch the riders in the presentation at the start of each GP. Check out their body language and you can predict who will be in the final. Last night, the only riders who looked up for it were Gollob, Holta & Emil. Edited September 13, 2009 by Mrs mark246
martinmauger
Always narks me when they say "the track was slick/grippy in practice, I set my bike(s) up accordingly then (low and behold) it was the complete opposite for the meeting and so caught me out". Why not set up one bike totally different 'just in case', as Mauger reportedly did for the 1979 World Final, then you have either eventuality covered? With so many bikes usually available, gotta be worth a punt....
Jenn
I didnt think it was that the riders couldnt ride it the track....its that the way the track is set up lends itself racing - or it can be set up as a gate and go gaters paradise. Olsen isn't known for creating racing tracks - he's known for gating tracks.
iris123
Still can't believe they trott out the old "The track was totally different in practice" stuff.Did anyone last night? But the riders know what to expect.Emil showed that you can race on any track with the right attitude.Or do we still think he has something extra power wise that enables his to pass like that? The Danish riders should be used to those sort of tracks anyway. But look at Hans.He is following in Bjarnes footsteps in being fairly crap in the GPs.He is performing way below his potential.Olsen can't be blamed for that surely? And Nicki should have won from the outside against Walasek.Just Walasek's slight loss of control blocked Nicki. So it wasn't all so biased as it seemed. But then the livestream failed and i couldn't be bothered to find another.........so how the meeting panned out after heat 10 i don't know. But Emil looked favourite from those early heats and so it turned out.Crump is probably suffering from jitters,as he looks totally different lately to the early and middle part of the GP series.Olsen can't be blamed for that either
