Jeremia Thelaus?

The season is really over, but Solkatten Jeremiah Thelaus sees a chance to run a few heats to. The possibility offered to the British Isles. Jeremiah runs Kenny Smith Memorial in Scunthorpe on Friday, Bordernapolis in Berwick on Saturday and Scottish Open in Edinburgh next Friday.

He's a Swede. Looks like he averaged 4.05 from 4 matches for Solkatterna in Allsvenskan and 9.38 for Crossbone Pirates from 8 matches in Division 1, compared ( in Allsvenskan) to Viktor Bergstrom - 3.84 from 9, Karlsson - 8.11 from 9, and Sundstrom - 7.01 from 10.

Believe he rode at Glasgow and crashed. As you say you can't really tell what to expect until you see him for real.

i see, well lets take a look at him, could be like sundstrom, or could be another benny the bandit lol, just hope woffinden recovers and the weather here clears up, been like a monsoon today

What a cracking line-up.

Bomber Harris as the favourite, but look at the racers that are there:

Michal Makovsky - all time top scoring Bandit.

Stan Burza - has been in cracking form at Shielfield, coming close to the track record on a number of occasions.

Jac Rempala - can beat the best on his day...oops, I mean on his heat...weird.

Paul Clews - the legend, entertainment guaranteed.

Ben Wilson - showed on Saturday just how quick he is when he gates. If he makes the gate, look at the racers who will be hunting him down!

Chris Schramm - another all entertainment rider that us Bandits fans know and adore.

Lee Complin - a season at Berwick would see him fulfil his potential. He was a brilliant guest on Saturday. Another total entertainer.

Ben Barker - sensational guest for us, very fast out front, and also did it from the back.

Tai Woffinden - cracking young talent with a real hunger for the win. Was untouchable on his last visit to Shielfield.

Thomas H Jonasson - loves our track, another real new talent who is a joy to watch, although the Edinburgh fans don't have much experience of that...

This is going to be an absolute belter.

A nice touch by the promotion to keep the prices as per normal, they clearly have the fans' interests ahead of their pockets.

Would be a good meeting to bring someone new to the sport along to I think.

Here's the latest press offering.... from www.berwickspeedway.co.uk

SEVEN NATIONALITIES ON PARADE... AND THE ELITE RIDERS JUST KEEP ON COMING!!!

With just over 24 hours to go before their biggest speedway showcase of the year, Berwick’s bright and breezy speedway promoters John Anderson and Lynda Waite have pulled another big name out of their seemingly-bottomless hat!

Faced with the loss of Andrew Tully (recalled to club duty by Edinburgh) from the 16-rider line-up for Saturday’s Bordernapolis, sponsored by Hugh Hayes, which will bring down the curtain on this thrilling first year of operations under the Anderson/Waite banner, the duo have really upgraded their roster by contracting Finnish Champion Kauko Nieminen to replace the young Scot on parade.

Nieminen – who has also been a three-time Under-21 Champion of Finland – previously raced in the north with both Glasgow and Workington at Premier League level, but this year progressed to Elite League competition and is a mainstay of the big-league Lakeside Hammers.

“In addition, he came very close to achieving Grand Prix status for next year” offered a Berwick club spokesperson. “He qualified through to the very last qualification hurdle – the GP Challenge at Coventry last month – and that’s proof positive of the guy’s class!”

The final part of the jigsaw which has been the Bordernapolis line-up has been completed by the disclosure of Jeremia Thelaus as the “mystery Scandinavian” coming over to contest the big night.

“Jeremia is not aligned to any British club, but is dedicated to impressing everyone who will be watching him race on Saturday” explained team manager Dave Peet. “He is really ultra-keen to do well – and yes, we’ll be watching him race very closely”.

Club boss John Anderson, in accordance with his credo that the Berwick club will always keep supporters fully-informed of any developments, has clarified the situation regarding 19-year-old Tai Woffinden’s appearance on Saturday evening.

“Tai picked up a dose of swine ‘flu, of all things, while in Poland last week” he explained. “We’ve kept in daily touch through his dad, Rob (a former Bandit, of course) and Tai’s beginning to feel much better”.

“At this moment, he’s aiming to race in – and win, his father told me – the Bordernapolis. I’ve nothing to add to that, but if he starts sneezing again, or is not well enough to race, I can promise everyone we will let the public know. It’s what we do – honesty and integrity are what we run this business on”.

The Bordernapolis – an event which Lynda Waite is quick to remind everyone would not have been possible for Berwick to stage without the very generous support and event sponsorship by Hugh Hayes – will see sixteen riders from no less than eight nations contesting twenty heats of racing under the unique handicap formula first introduced at Berwick in 1972.

Trevor Smith also comes in for vital praise for his magnificent work in gaining more that half the heat sponsors, as do all 20 race sponsors individually all of whom are critical in getting the Bordernapolis up and running in this superb 2009 season.

The club has issued the revised line-up, now confirming the agreed and contracted attendance of Derek Sneddon (Scotland), Michal Makovsky (CZ), Stan Burza & Jac Rempala (Poland), Paul Clews, Ben Wilson, Chris Schramm, Lee Complin, Ben Barker & Tai Woffinden (England), Chris Kerr and Kenny Ingalls (USA), Sweden’s brilliant Under-21 Champion Thomas H Jonasson, now THJ’s countryman Jeremia Thelaus and Kauko Nieminen from Finland.

“Plus of course the favourite to take the title -- Great Britain’s skipper, two-time British Champion and Grand Prix winner Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris” confirmed a Bandits’ spokesperson.

As announced, there will be no increase to regular admission prices on Bordernapolis evening. Indeed, the match programme – although increased in size by four extra pages – will remain at only £2. “A wee thank-you to our marvellous supporters” say club bosses Anderson and Lynda Waite. “Without them, we couldn’t have done anything this year!”

“We would however, yet again clarify that season tickets are not valid on Bordernapolis night”.

A tribute to this season’s marvellous back-from-the-dead speedway revival at Berwick will be paid by BBC1 TV at 7.30pm on Monday, October 26th. During the ‘Inside Out’ programme (broadcast to the North East and Cumbria) presenter Diana Binks will host a nine-minute segment, telling the story of Lynda Waite and John Anderson’s first amazing season in charge of their Bandits – featuring action from matches against Newcastle, Workington and King’s Lynn It will also be available on the BBC iPlayer for the following seven days.

There will also be a feature about Berwick Speedway on BBC Newcastle - Radio for the North East - (95.4 and 96.0FM) during the Monday 26th Breakfast show hosted by Charlie Charlton and Alfie Joey.... 6.30am to 10am.

Next Home Action:

Shielfield Park, Tweedmouth, Berwick upon Tweed

IT’S THE BIG ONE…………

THE 2009 BERWICK ‘BORDERNAPOLIS’ – Handicap Classic

(Sponsored by Hugh Hayes)

Saturday October 24TH 7.00pm (Parade 6.50pm)

“BERWICK – BRITAIN’S FASTEST SPEEDWAY – 75mph AND NO BRAKES!”
