MARK246
Nice one.Bet it was great to get the bike out on the ice again.Any plans for the German Championship in Berlin this season? Good weekend all round, the Finns had everything organised really well, but the -17 on Sunday felt cold after the mild start to the winter in Sweden. It always feels good to get the first ride of the season under the belt, all the new parts worked so I'm happy. I'm hoping to ride Berlin this season, watch this space. I don't know what I've done to upset f-s-p and be missed off the result list

You are missing from the official press release too, and after I'd hunted the result sheet I only went through the names on the list and moved on to other things. I did now you were going to be/ and were there, was just asleep apparently I got a picture of Henri Malinen into my mailbox today and will post it to speedway.fi tomorrow. He had his leg caught up between the fender and the tire as he fell and it does not look good...

Conkers
Henri Malinen with an itchy foot at Rovaniemi last weekend. Check the lower photograph. Ohh That Smarts! Hope he's back racing soon, he is a cracking rider. Russian Championship Semi Final Day 1: Kamensk-Ural It was -15 when this meeting started and the video feed was suspended as the camera wouldn't operate. When they got up the video tower to set up, it was still -20 and they couldn't get the camera to work. 1 Eduard Krysov Kamensk-Ural (1,1,1,3,0) 6 2 Dmitri Khomitsevich Togliatti (2,3, 2,3,3) 13 3 Andrey Gavrilkin Saransk (3,1,1,2,3) 10 4 Anton Zmaga Kemerov (0,0,1,0,2) 3 5 Vitalli Khomitsevich Togliatti (3,3,1,3,f) 10 6 Roman Akimenko Novosibirsk (1,2,3,1,0) 7 7 Sergei Makharov Lukhovitsy (0,0,3,1,0) 4 8 Yunir Baseev Saransk (2,3,2,0,2) 9 9 Pavel Tschajka Lukhovitsy (3,2,3,3,2) 13 10 Maxim Koltrakov Shadrinsk (1,0, 0,0,ns) 1 11 Ilya Drozdov Lukhovitsy (0,2, 2,1,3) 8 12 Dmitri Koltakov Shadrinsk (2,1, 0,2,2) 7 13 Maxim Baraboshkin Ust'Llim (1,0,2,2,1) 6 14 Alexander Rodin Shadrinsk (f,ns,ns,ns,ns) 0 15 Nikolai Krasnikov Ufa (3,3, 3,2,3) 14 16 Maxim Korchemakha Novosibirsk (2,2,0,1,1) 6 17 Anton Kovrizhin Kemerov (1,0,f) 1 18 Dmitri Bryukhovskikh Shadrinsk( f,1) 1 Alexander Rodin had quite a bad fall in his first ride and the Russian Forums say he may not ride tomorrow. Pavel Tschajka caused a stir when he beat Krasnikov and becomes the first rider to beat the World Champion this season. From all accounts it was a great race with Pavel keeping Nikolai at bay. Day 2 starts at 10am Moscow time Sunday (about 7am UK time) The Togliatti and Ufa Qualifying Rounds start at around 3pm UK time

DutchGrasstrack
Shoking news just arrived here... Johnny Tuinstra retires from the 2009/2010 season . On his website he says that he can't do another season as a '100% iceracer', caused by various problems and his busy life as self employee . This also means that René Stellingwerf or either Sven Holstein will race his first season as full GP rider! .
Conkers
Lets be honest Jesper, Johnny has had more than his fair share of injuries in the last couple of years. And in these recessionary times, maybe work is more important than racing when it comes to paying the bills. If he takes a year out it will give him time to recover, he may come back a bit stronger. After all, in Rene Stelingwerf and Sven Holstein the Netherlands have two real prospects. I think Johnny may put in an appearance at Assen in March if only as an advisor. Just one thing who will replace him in the Team event?
DutchGrasstrack
I agree with you there, but tbh in my eyes it came as a quite shock, never espected it though. Anyway, Stellingwerf and Holstein are good prospects indeed, looks like both are taking ice-racing very serious. Don't think anyone will replace Tuinstra in the team event, just because we don't have any more riders beside Stellingwerf and Holstein. Henry van der Steen was racing last year in a couple meetings but on a borrowed bike, don't think he'll race this year.. same for Dennis van der Tang a couple years back. Conkers
Russian Individual Championship Semi Final Kanensk-Ural 19th/20th Dcember 2009 Beat me to it Jesper! As expected, Krasnikov won, with Dmitri K in second. Despite beating Krasnikov on nSaturday he was beaten in his 4th race today by Krasnikov, Krysov and Akimenko, and was struggling to pass. Big surprise is Kyysov going through ahead of Bazeev. If he is in the top 7 in two weeks, then a year in the World Championships should see him improve in leaps and bounds!
