Ron Butler
I've never been to an ice speedway meeting. I shall never go to an ice speedway meeting. Ice speedway is as dangerous for the spectators as it is for the riders. Ice speedway, as a spectator sport, is best left to brass monkeys

Conkers
Posa will be 62 in March. My favourite quote from Icy Riders: Interviewer: "Does Ice Racing Scare You?" Posa: "No." (Pause) "Driving down Russian Motorways scares me"

Conkers
Looks like the Swiss Ice Racing club are having an extra meeting on December 20th. An indoor meting in the Ice Rink next to the site of the Alpenarena ran to Ice Racing rules on Pocket Bikes! Whilst it's not exactly Ice Racing it looks like they are having this fun event to create some more interest in the Big meeting in the New Year. More details Here but you may need a translator to read it. Edited November 24, 2009 by Conkers

DutchGrasstrack
Another interesting article here. It says that quite a few western ice-racers are practicing in Slobodskoj (Russia); Max Niedermaier, Florian Fürst, Christoph Kirchner, Stefan Pletschacher, Harald Simon, Sven Holstein and René Stellingwerf . There will be a meeting including all these riders on the 5th and 5th December, also in Slobodskoj.

iris123
Governor's Cup - Open Amur Region Championship - Rajchikhinsk (Round 2) Final Round Sunday. Results from the Russian Forum Pavel Tschjka looks like winning this whole event hands down! Pity that Laguta isn't there.Seems he was a likely competitor and has stated he wants to take Ice racing seriously and try to break into the Russian team. But went to Thailand for an Aquabike comp. Not sure if that is as spectator or competitor. But he would certainly be a decent challenger to Tchajka Having looked at the entries for the Russian Championship i can't see Laguta's name among them.......... Conkers
Got to argee with you there Doug, Tschajka having it all his own way, as he only dropped a point last week and a perfect score this week. Zmaga benefiting from his trips to the West last year. The season starts proper next weekend but from what I've read the crowds at this weeks round were bigger than last week. They've added to this event, in that in they are having a training session on the Alpenarena before the pocket bikes event and it appears to be an open training session. Just had a look at the Steigaden site and they have the meeting starting at 1pm and want it over by 4pm. Possibly the lack of floodlights is a factor No riders have been anounced yet, but last year's winner Frankie Zorn has confirmed riding there on his own website. Frankie appears to be riding at St. Johann in the qualifiers rather than the Saalfelden round.
