tarabanko
Swedish superman Olle Åhnström at the ripe age of 90 is still racing speedway and iceracing. Here is a clip from yesterdays meeting at Gustavsberg with Olle and his wife. Olle started to race speedway way back in 1947, a true living legend! Link to the clip: http://www.aftonbladet.se/webbtv/sport/article6790565.ab there is some commercial before the clip. f-s-p
It was definitely NO ballot for the line up....... There's always a ballot! It would have most probably been a dead boring meeting for any spectator (friends and relatives of the riders excluded) if heat 20 would have been heat 1. There are sides and there are sides to this matter. Edited March 20, 2010 by f-s-p
iris123
Well it was a great few days in Berlin. Not only the racing, but the company as well.Lovely Italian meal last night with Conkers,Jacky and Lars Few nasty looking crashes during the German Championships and yesterday.Good to meet up with Bluejam again.Just a pity about the rain as ever and yesterday the fog coming up from the track.Krasnikov wins again, but there were some good heats from some of the lesser riders.Aakko impressed me yesterday and Bluejam said the same.He had a few great battles(one with Svensson was super),never gave up.Knapp was also pretty good. But there was also a lot of guys out of their septh or maybe carrying injuries who brought nothing to the show. Can I echo what Doug has said, we had a great time, and it was good to catch up with Bluejam. Some great racing this weekend, and despite the rain turning the track into a fog bound lottery for a couple of races, there was some great racing. My personal favourite moment was Stefan Svensson suddenly riding very hard against the Russians! Great stuff! Krasnikov has also become more approachable and smiles a lot more, and has become more co-operative to us snappers. Sorry I didn't post the results sooner, but I'm afraid beer got in the way Saturday and the stadium had no wifi. I managed to do my report and pics in the airport, but wasn't able to send them as my flight was called. So the forum had to wait until now. Oh and thanks to f-s-p for the beer, mine went down a treat! Edited March 22, 2010 by Conkers

Although the referee decided on all four back, Ivanov did not ride and was replaced by Rene Stellingwerf..." Sounds like the ref has messed up here. Checked this too and still think so. Had noticed the same about Krasnikov from your pics from Assen and even mentioned it in my report. Sounds like everyone had fun and I'm glad everything I sent got delivered. What i did find amazing is that Ivanov was given the go-ahead to ride on sunday after suffering concussion on saturday night!
