Referee said all 4 back, but Sven appears to have injured his collarbone and his leg, and looks doutful for Berlin. If neither ride, Knapp and Simon will ride and Posa and Fürst will ride as reserves. On a personal note it was good to have a drink with Lucifer Sam and Full Throttle and to see other Brits there. A great three days racing in Assen, but now my work begins, as I sit in CitizenM at Schipol compiling my report and sorting 1200+ pics!!!! DutchGrasstrack
I agree with Ian there, great three days racing at Assen. Shame I can't go to Berlin. Sven Holstein won't be riding in Berlin. He got some shoulder problems and I've been told he will miss the start of the sidecar grasstrack season too.
rusky
Lindström fell in his opening ride after leading, but was pushed by Svensson, and took out Kaminski. Per-Anders has aggravated his knee injury and may miss Berlin. Sven Holstein fell in the first corner of the D Final. Referee said all 4 back, but Sven appears to have injured his collarbone and his leg, and looks doubtful for Berlin. Don't totally agree with that summary Conkers. From where we stood (Per landed about 2 metres to the left of where I was standing). Kaminski was on his way down a long while ( well a second or two) before Stefan & Per had their coming together - have to say, he was a bit wild all day really !! Did anybody else think the Posa effect was prevalent this weekend. From where we were, the crowd was significantly down on previous years, more so on the Sunday. We actually had space to move about on the Saturday night. There were definitely fewer coaches in the bus park on both days. We had quite a bit of discussion in our part of the stadium and decided that had the meeting been held in the UK it would not have gone ahead on health and safety grounds. From the start of the first turn right round to the start of the third turn there was effectively only two escape routes out in case of emergency, and one of those was severly restricted given the number of people that would have been directed that way. Hopefully when the Hotel is completed that will improve immensely.
Jacqueline
I`ve found a youtube video from Heat 24 on sunday with P-A. Lindström, S. Svensson, N. Kaminsky.... you can watch it Some news from P-A: He was hurting a thumb. P-A now carrying a proctection over the thumb, a kind of splint. But there won´t be any worries about Berlin. He says that he is gonna ride. Here are some PHOTOS from Assen, Lars has taken them. Edited March 15, 2010 by Jacqueline
lucifer sam
Great weekend of action. Probably the best Friday meeting I've seen, with Andrej Gavrilkin certainly a name to watch in the future. He can't gate for toffee and once he gets going, he's got so much speed. He went from 3rd to 1st on the final lap of his semi-final, and last to first on the opening laps of the final. Some good action on the Saturday, but it was yesterday's meeting which was the real highlight of the weekend. Outstanding moments included Zorn barging Dmitri Khomitsevich out of the way only for Daniil Ivanov to then repeat the move on Zorn a couple of laps later, and the B-Final, which saw Svensson go from 2nd to 4th to 2nd, and get away with dumping Vitali Khomitsevich on the floor on the final bend. Khomitsevich crashed right in front of us and the impact into the bales covered my programme in straw, just as Holstein's crash had also done so in his final programmed outing. We had it all happening right in front of us on the Sunday!!! Krasnikov ended with winning both A Finals, but he was made to fight for it this weekend. He had to pick up a few points from behind, especially in yesterday's meeting. Daniil Ivanov kept him on his toes the whole weekend and perhaps should have won on the Saturday, only to make an awful start in the A-Final. And Igor Kononov gates like a rocket (he led both A Finals for a couple of corners before Krasnikov took control) and could be a champion in future years. Highly enjoyable tour with Eurorider, with Full Throttle also on the tour, and nice to share a few pints with Conkers at the hotel. f-s-p
René Stellingwerf is replacing Sven Holstein in the Berlin Gp's. Serenius was asked to do it but he said no. Wasn't interested in doing all the hassle for only to ride on sunday. + there are important domestic meetings for him lined up the week after. This from race website in swedish. f-s-p
Jouni Seppänen will be celebrating 25 years of ice racing at Östersund on March 28th. A meeting with a traditional 16 rider/ 20 heat formula will start at 2 PM local time. If you fancy seeing Per Olov Serenius, Stefan Svensson, Tjitte Bootsma, Jarmo Hirvasoja, Erkki Aakko, Jari Ahlbom and Håkan Storm pulling on their leathers, be there. After the meeting there's a celebration at the club house where all the spectators are welcomed.
