lucifer sam
Never Rob Surely if it's supposed to be a ten-round series, then it should be a ten round series. How about if Ivanov keeps Krasnikov to within 25 points, surely then the extra round has to be held? All the best Rob

Bear in mind i'm in the UK and posting in a UK based forum and you quote, i presume, the German/European schedule. I can assure you in my tv listings magazine it states for today (23rd February 2010) FIM Ice Speedway The World Finals from Togliatti, Russia and from Saransk, Russia. Programmes scheduled twice this evening. If you check the Wikipedia link these were the first two rounds of the 9 round series(originally 10). Footnote: It was replaced by Dubai 24 Hours (some sort of car race methinks). I'll try contact them to see what plans are still intact for coverage of the Ice Speedway. Conkers
Just had this from the promoter of the Polish ce Meeting at Poznan on Sunday Sorry to inform you that due to losing too much ice over last 2 days we must cancell ice racing event in Poznan on 28.02.2010.We had 35 cm of ice yesterday.Today it is only 22cm and we don't want to risk for sunday. It is +8 and no minus in the night so almost impossible to race. We will defenitely run that event at great track in Poznan next winter. Looks as if it was a natural Ice Track. Oh well next winter maybe. Conkers
Conkers - I still can't quite see how you can call off a round of the World Championship and not re-stage it. All the best Rob I had a chat with Jacqueline on Saturday regarding the events of last weekend, and there was talk of the riders refusing to ride if the track was unfit. I'm trying to find out why they only ran one day, but I suspect the Jury decided that in view of the fact the track was poor and the riders refusing to ride they made the decision to cancel the second day. If you can hang on until Assen, I can ask some awkward questions of the FIM then and see if we get an answer, then we can discuss/argue about it over a pint? All the best Rob I sent Jacqueline a text about the restaging dates, and I'm told that the Olympiahalle track was unavailable on the 22nd/23rd February so the proposed restaging dates couldn't have been fulfilled! Conkers
Very interesting interview with Peter Scharler from Innsbruck, which I`ve taken from SPEEDWEEK A really interesting piece, but I really must start learning German properly, rather than rely on translation sites! However, it looks like the Promoter is blaming the Stadium owners. So going on the time scales for this track, the next Ice Racing in Innsbrück should be in 2045! Now my annual query: Apart from Rob, Jacqueline & Lars, Jesper and myself, who's going to Assen? And who will be in Berlin the week after (apart from Doug, J&L and me)? Both fell and Lehtinen excluded. Lehtinen appeared too be a bit disappointed with the decision, thinking it could have gone the other way. In the re-run Malinen was leading Aakko and as Aakko passed Malinen tried a bit too hard and crashed on his own. Second re-rerun saw Seppänen taking his first individual Finnish championship medal on his 25th try. Good for him!
