iris123
The Hamburg Freezers ice hockey team have had two test games and the first Xmas stuff is now in the stores.......plus Conkers contacted me about hotels for Berlin. So i thought it was time we forgot about summer and started thinking about Franky Zorn,Krasnikov......and poor Mrs Mark who is probably locked away in the garage putting all those spikes in tyres Not sure what is happening with Inzell next year. Can't remember exactly, but thought they might not be running because of building work going on with a new roof.... The GP Finals look like this as far as i know: Togliatti 06/07.02 -rounds 1+2 Karasnogorsk 13/14.02 -rounds 3+4 Assen 13/14.03 -rounds 5+6 Berlin 20/21.03 -rounds 7+8 And the team final 30/31.01 Saransk plus the Sanok Cup is down for the 15/16.01 with Krasnikov,Zorn,Bauer and Posa supposedly confirmed.......... Tyres nearly done. Engines back soon. Medicals done for licence. Weather forecast checked daily. Spending allowance stopped All this while He Who Should Be Obeyed is playing on Longtrack. bruno
ive not been to proper ice racing for a good many years but remember the once in assen playing pool and drinking beer . it was a good many beers before we realised there was no pockets on the table. how does pool with no pockets work? perhaps its time for another trip to ice speedway but would it be the same with no cribby. ommer em
RobMcCaffery
ive not been to proper ice racing for a good many years but remember the once in assen playing pool and drinking beer . it was a good many beers before we realised there was no pockets on the table. how does pool with no pockets work? perhaps its time for another trip to ice speedway but would it be the same with no cribby. ommer em It's not pool for a starter. It's a form of billiards that's very popular across Benelux. You score points for cannons only - hitting the two other balls with yours in one shot. The legendary Tony's Tattoo Bar in Groningen, haunted by a few ice-racing followers, had a good table although it was a bit tricky getting the local 'ladies' to let you have a shot. Er, should I re-phrase that? Even without Cribby it's well worth getting over there for more - ice-racing that is, not pocketless billiards ;-). I was once blamed by Cribby for him failing to qualify from a meeting because I was wearing green. It's a bit ironic considering his history of UK tracks... 25 years on and Posa Serenius is still winning races. Fond memories of a very mis-spent youth - finish commentating about 10 on the Saturday, head into town and try to sober up for lunchtime on the Sunday for day 2. Rob McCaffery. Thanks for whetting the appetite and starting a thread about next years ice-racing,Doug.I'll be making Berlin a permanent fixture after having such an enjoyable time in March. The locals want me to go back anyway with another bottle of single malt in my bag in exchange for a drams of schnapps!! Conkers
Well I booked my flights to Assen and Berlin whilst they were cheapish and I'm looking at Winters this year (booking via Inspeed) as I am leaving straight after the Sunday racing as my flight is at 9.20pm. From all accounts, Inzell isn't staging any racing because of the work on the Stadium, but are hoping for a Final in 2011 to celebrate the roof going on. Either way I'm going to try and get there. So it's time to pester my Neighbour again when I need urgent translations and catch up on glasses, commands and seagulls!
Conkers
Interesting piece on the Swedish site Isracing.net that former World Championship competitor Ola Westlund (son of the legendary Kurt) will be the Swedish National Team Coach, and he and National team boss Peter Jansson will be trying to recruit new riders from Motocross, Trials and Enduro. Meanwhile over in Russia it would appear that most of the racers are honing their Motocross skills. There is a great pic of Krasnikov sporting a new haircut Here (At least I got him to smile in the last photo I took of him) Well worth a look. I feel confident in saying it was this one at Oulunkylä, the red square. I think it was 2000 or 2001, team world's final. I also feel that it will be very unlikely. But there was talk that a speed skating arena would be built somewhere in Helsinki in the very near future. It's been discussed for year's, but with the recession that hit us last spring it was suddenly all over the news that it migh get done since the expense was suddenly down about 30%. It was in 2001, I was there. Germany placed 3rd and we`ve had a fantastic party together with the whole team at the ferry which brought us back to Stockholm. Lake Bodom Comet
Kiitos F-S-P! I can remember that meeting being screened on Eurosport! What is the stadium normally used for? Conkers
I remember that meeting too! It had the lights strung across on wires over the whole area where the track was. I do remember chatting with F-S-P about that a few years ago when he was in Manchester. Do they play Bandy or something like it on that pitch? Also: Apart from Saalfelden and Sanok, does anyone know where the third qualifying round will be? Can't seem to find anything about it

Can't seem to find anything about it I think it's just for speed skating and "yleisöluistelu", where you just go and have fun on skates. IFK plays it's home bandy matches at Kallio, just checked from their site.
