Am sure it won't adversely effect a meeting I'm looking forward to massively; but let's be honest, the disparity now between the strengths of Groups 'A' & 'B' is really quite extreme...

I promise I WON'T mention 2005

Those of us who cannot believe miracles really do happen simply cannot get our heads around the fact that you are saying that you won't ever do so again Parsnips old fruit!

Incidentally we're doing the Ben Fund collection tomorrow so I'll be donning the fetching canary yellow gear.

All the best

Rob

Well I couldn't possibly comment but Sexy Sue the Island's raffle ticket seller (who can shout MUCH louder than you Peasepud!) will be disappointed as she thought you'd be donning your pink outfit!

WARNING TO YOUNGER FANS (and old uns like Peasepud and Parsnips too!): Stories are spreading that a Gorilla is on the loose and may well be intending to make for the Wave105.2FM Stadium.

I'll do so IF you spare poor Mr. Golding a journey there and back in the haze of Super Kings!!!

On that subject, any chance of a lift back to the Ferry in the Golding hire-machine..??!!

You'd best ask him yourself tomorrow really BUT I'd warn you I suspect us two will be on the Midnight car ferry back to Pompey as I doubt we'll make the 10pm.

Wow...in a field of 20 riders, 6 of them used to ride for Stoke (7 before Tom Brown withdrew!)

No point in me noticing that, just made me smile!

And (to please Malc...! ) five turned out at one time or another for Wimbledon!!!!

Parsloes, there's only ONE former Oxford Academy rider BUT our guys have graduated to the Premier League or, in the case of young Ben Barker, the Elite League. Which was kind of the point of the CL - not for ageing riders to stick around in the third tier taking points money off the kids...:P:P

All the best

Cheers Bryn. Is it simply the winner of group A v winner of group B to decide the title, or are there semi-finals as well?

All the best

Rob

Group winners meet for title. In the event of tie at top of group "who beat who when they met" will be deciding factor and, of course, we'll all muck up our proggies as usual as it's the 4,3,2,0 scoring system!

Cheers Bryn.

By my calculations, that's 21 races - I can see the ref needing to get through the races at a fair old pace tonight.

Of course in a certain past year, although I won't mention the year or the track, it took 4 hours and 15 minutes to stage ner-ner-ner-ner-19 races.

I like the 4-3-2-0 scoring system, I often wonder if it should be applied in league meetings - it would certainly liven up Heat 15 if the teams were level and a 5-4 either way could take it. Lead to all sorts of interesting tactics.

All the best

Rob

lets just hope we dont have 3 teams tied with team A beating B, B beating C and C beaing A, that could cause some problems!:lol:

Well 7 (would have been 8) have signed for Newport, Stoke can't even win this!

Congratulations to Newport.

Thoroughly deserved their win.Easily the BEST PAIR on the night.

Jay Herne was the individual star of the night, with a new NL track record and a Maximum.(Doesnt win Trophies though )

Some strange goings on with helmet colours. In at least 3 races riders came to the start in the wrong colours.

Yet the programme was correct, apart from a couple of gate errors.

I hope all the riders that took falls are ok today.Surprised the ref didnt disqualify James when Burrows went down.A huge barge into him, sent Buzz flying.Very nasty.Told he was ok-ish,but the bike was badly bent.

Good to meet up with Parsloes,ArnieG,Ancient Mariner,RobP,Guesty and my travelling companions Mr & Mrs Rabbit. :approve: Good lively banter between us all night.Cheers.

My parting shot for the night was to 'encourage' and debate on the programme, format, gates etc between Parsloes and Rob.Then walked swiftly away!!

I agree with BobC - from head on it looked a clear exclusion for Scott James in Red (or was it blue, or was it............?)

Good to see that you stirred up the programme debate, although it could have been saved for the long winter months!.

I must admit I found the new way of identifying riders by trying to remember their gate position throughout the race a bit difficult - it must be the first time I have been to a speedway meeting where the helmet colours are not printed in the programnme. To quote Nigel Pearson, or is it Tony Millard, "for those of you new to speedway the riders are identified by................................."
