speedyguy
The Romford gathering for this Sunday looks an interesting event. Good to see the club is still remembered.
Reviresco
Thanks Norbold for the confirmation. Brooklands was my first introduction to speedway (and non-league football) and where I caught the bug. Woodcock, Gilbertson, Benham, Sanders, the late Kevin Holden, Brian Foote. Great times, great crowds, great memories. Remember John Louis and Tony Davey riding their in their early days. JL being completely unbeatable in that league. TonyMac
Event organiser (and ex-Rayleigh Rocket!) Terry Stone says that he is expecting the following ex-Bombers to attend tomorrow, so should be well worth a look for those of us who used to get our Thursday night fix at Brooklands: PHIL WOODCOCK DES LUKEHURST GEOFF PENNIKET MIKE VERNAM STAN STEVENS FRANK WENDON Plus a rare appearance by former Romford general/team manager MAURICE MORLEY. And other riders who rode at Romford, including PETE SAUNDERS, who appeared in the first-ever race at Brooklands when Crewe were opening night visitors on May 29, 1969. We'll be there with our Retro Speedway stand, so hope to see plenty of you...
Paul
Brooklands was my first introduction to speedway (and non-league football) and where I caught the bug. JL being completely unbeatable in that league. Yep me to! First taste of speedway was at Brooklands, that very first race and have been hooked ever since! The sun has come out today, just like it did every Thursday at the Brooklands Road Stadium. I will be leaving soon to see my former hero's. In actual fact the guys that rode for Romford are still my hero's! They had very few rain-offs, certainly none in their first season and with Maurice Morley being there, it will just be like the old times!
