sunrise
Blimey , a bit lacking in big stars compared to previous seasons . Looks like a Tigers 1 , 2 , 3 to me Lol you are dreaming again Yes no big stars was announced instead of having a out and out favourite to win they wanted the meeting to be wide open so all the riders that perform well at Armadale were booked. Still in two minds whether to go to it with the admission being £18 a little steep for riders we see every other week, only thing swaying it is seeing THJ again (yes waits for the smart comments to start) and seeing how the new German copes

mythman666
This is a very strong line up for this meeting with it being very hard to pick a winner. I do not think that Tully, Lawson, Grieves or Compton will be too far away though. I will be making the trip up for this one and will be hoping for an impressive show form the Bandits! Hopefully Stan can recapture the sort of form that saw him win a few years back. And Paul "The Legend" Clews will be giving it 110% as always and if he can put on a similar show as the last time he was at Armadale, then he will not be too far away either. One thing puzzling me slightly is how R/R works in an individual meeting but will no doubt find out! The weekend cannot come soon enough!! wjm
£18 for a field full of PL riders . The Chuckle Brothers are having a laugh . £15 at Workington for 28 races. £18. is right.
sunrise
This is how JDC explained the line up and the cost, taken from the chatzone I did not wish to get involved in this discussion because everyone has their own opinions on what is on offer and how it should be priced. I've send in the past, and I'll repeat just now, we set our prices at Armadale to give us a reasonable chance of breaking even and in that way we'll be back next week, next month and next year. The prize money paid to the riders at this year's Open will be a substantial five figure sum and more than double what we pay for a normal league meeting. We have to balance this sum with the amounts we raise in sponsorship for the event and pitch our admission prices accordingly. We are in a no win situation with regard to the field. Last year we invited Rory Schlein, a popular choice, but a rider who absolutely dominated the meeting and was an obvious winner before the start. We also invited other Elite league riders who, at the last minute decided they couldn't be bothered or went for bigger money elsewhere. It became a nightmare trying to get replacements at the last minute. Dozens and dozens of phone calls. This year we took a conscious decision to make the field wide open, inviting riders who had done well on our track before, giving every rider in the line up a chance to take the top prize. We hope that this will produce better racing than last year's event. We also believe that, barring injury, the riders we have announced will turn up to enetertain you on the night. This year's Open is part of the Homecoming event being promoted by the Scottish Parliament. We will be presenting a very Scottish evening with lots of fun, fireworks, giveaways to the early arrivals and much more. We have, and will continue to, put a great deal of effort into the event to make it a night to remember. Despite what some people are suggesting on this thread, we still see the Scottish Open to be the biggest event on our annual calendar and we hope to make it a very special night next week. He puts forward a decent enough arguement . But i'm sorry , i still feel £18 is a bit steep for a field full of PL riders . But that's just my opinion . What about the punters that go every week ?. Even if there is new fans coming at £18 would you want to go back ?. Sorry if this is seen as regular negative forum attitude but £18. Rico
Even if there is new fans coming at £18 would you want to go back ?. But when they find out it's normally cheaper, surely that's actually good marketing. I personally think it's a bit pricey, but I won't be there anyhow. At least people have an explanation as to why the price level is set as it is. Perhaps a breakdown post match of the profit/loss made on the event may appease the baying masses. mythman666
Blimey , a bit lacking in big stars compared to previous seasons . Looks like a Tigers 1 , 2 , 3 to me The only thing i would say about it being all PL riders is that... a) the field is wide open with no obvious winner what i have found over the years at Berwick is that the EL riders simply do not turn up these kind of meetings, this may just be a Berwick thing, i dont know. I personally think it is a decent line up and £18 is pretty good value for what will be good racing. And im sure you would pay that to see a Tigers 1,2,3?? gsc
I too feel £18 rather steep, also, whats the deal with Edinburgh being the only club not to offer a student price for admission?
jenga
do think the home riders will fill most of top places, but still looks a classy line up..good luck to all in it and good luck to all the supporters trying to find 18 quid to get in.
