AndyM
Fair question - who IS Rob Lyon? How has he ever contributed to speedway?

SCB
Did Rob phone Carl Wilkinson and tell him he was not using him in the World Cup? what about every other Brit riding in the EL? Or the PL? Why stop there, did he phone all eligible riders in the NL too? I love the quote, "Nicholls, who in fairness to him has spent the last six years practically holding together a pretty ordinary and at times poorly organised Team GB side, rightly feels aggrieved." I assume that was sarcasm? 4 wasn't it last year at Coventry that he managed to score? Only better than Simon Stead. Daniel Smith
Comments like that is why he wasn't & shouldn't be included in the squad. No fighting spirit & slagging off the GB manager because he hasn't got what he wants. It was written by the journalist. As for Carl Wilkinson, that is stupid to use him as an example of lack of contact. Scott Nicholls was made captain of his country by Rob Lyon but was then dropped because of poor form. That's fine and may have been the right call but he's the best we have got (proven over the last few years) so perhaps he deserved either an invite to be in the pits (might have stopped the where is Scotty, he's letting his country down threads as now we know he wasn't asked) or an explanation why he wasn't selected. At worst a phone call to your ex captain is courteous The simple truth is that had Nicholls ridden at Leszno, probably in place of King or Bridger, we would have been in the final. Then Rob Lyon would have been a tactical genius.
Blazeaway
Lyon has about as much class as his mates the Chumpmans.

The best we have, proven over the last few years is Lee Richardson.
Haza
The best thing Rob did was leaving Nicholls out of the team at Pboro and Leszno seems strange to me that he cant even be in the pits at Pboro to help the boys out and then expects to ride at Leszno thats how much he wanted to be part of the set up . Even though Lee Richardson didnt ride at Pboro he still played a big part in the pits .Where was Nicholls ? watching at home on tv ? great comitment

No one said it, it was written by a scribe. Therefore (look in the dictionary for a definition) it's not a QUOTE. What was Richardson's best placing in a GP series in relation to Scott's placings. What is Rico's best placing in a GB Championship. Has he won one of those yet & how many has Scott Nicholls won ? I have nothing against Rico as he is a top rider, done super for GB and all clubs. AndyM
Never heard of King's Lynn? That wasn't my question. I asked what he had contributed to speedway. By what achievements has he earned his role with Team GB?
RPNY
I know the people that dont like Scott will never listen to any arguments for him, but I dont see as he's done anything wrong with what he has said. He's quite right in beliving that he deserved at least a phone call from the team Manager. He isnt complaing that he was left out of the team, just that the same man who a few months ago made him team captain, didnt even call to say 'sorry mate Im going to stick with the young boys...' Lee Richardson said in his interviews in Poland and at Lakeside that Scott would be back in the team one day soon. So I doubt that any of the other riders have a problem with him. Rob Lyon dropped the ball and should have had Scott in the team, pure and simple. Although in his defence, many on here, including myself, wanted Eddie & TAI dropped after P'boro, so he wasnt completly wrong...
Daniel Smith
"When I originally met Rob, I said I wanted to race for my country, but he phoned me and said I was having a tough time right now and perhaps it was best I didn't." Quote above from Scott himself. So, if Rob had already phoned him and said the above why would he need to phone him again to say the same thing. Scott clearly knew the situation
