scott28tt
I'm getting fed up with Sky. I think it's great that they show as much live speedway as they do, I think the coverage is good, but how many more times is a meeting going to over-run and my Sky+ box miss recording the last heat or two? It happened with the British GP, and it happened again today with the SWC final! Not impressed. Speedway is the only reason why I keep Sky Sports over the summer when there's no footy. If you're going to go to all the trouble of making the effort to show the delayed SWC final, at least make sure your subscribers get a chance to watch it all! They're not repeating the SWC final either, so I had to make do with watching Heat 25 on their web site - shame I missed 21-24!! Sort it out Sky, you're doing my head in. Update your planner schedule when an event over-runs, then at least my Sky+ box will carry on recording....

tomcat
Add to that the fact that Sky cannot control the weather... as happened today at the SWC Final and over runs happen. Its LIVE... so these things do happen. To blame Sky Sports for meetings over running is a bit OTT. Edited July 20, 2009 by tomcat

Well sure - but Sky+ which is a brilliant thing generally, does have a weak spot when it comes to overrunning live sport. Has happened to me several times including this morning.. Surely such a clever toy as sky+ is, could be tinkered with so that a live sports broadcast carries on being recorded on the box until it's finished NOT ended at the scheduled time... Mary_L
You can adjust the settings so that it shouldn't miss either the start or finish of a programme. Press the services button, then choose option 5,scroll down to add to start change it to automatic and do the same for add to end. my box is always set to this and OK it may very occasionally miss bits of programmes but generally it's good Hope that helps
Ian
I don't often watch Sky, but I made an exception yesterday for the SWC Final. As a matter of interest, are the commercial breaks always that frequent? And are they always that repetitive? Also, can anyone tell me what "Current TV, share your world" means? And do they really have to keep saying that?

Exactly Well we all think ourselves lucky it is not on terrestrial TV because the fact it was cancelled would have meant the meeting would not have been shown the following day SKY messed up their entire Sunday schedule to show it and people complain because their SKY + didn't work as they wanted it to
Grachan
Here's a novel idea. Video tape. Long play. Whole meeting recorded. Ah, the good old days eh?

britmet
To scott28tt, - and others who only take Sky for speedway, - DONT ! You can watch it for free on t'internet, plus Polish Lge matches etc. myP2P.eu or Polish TV's "Soccer Live".

Sir Jasper
Current TV sponsor the showing of speedway, so yes, they do have to keep on saying it, just like other programmes that are sponsored. I was wondering what some people would moan about seeing as Webster did a good job, Tatum and Louis did a good job, the riders did a good job, the trackstaff did a good job... Barney Rabbit
QUOTE (Robbie B @ Jul 20 2009, 09:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My Sky + HD box recorded the speedway OK even with the overun of the programme. My Sky+ box seems to do what it wants to do. Previously, my recordings have been OK when others posted their recordings had cut off at the scheduled finish time but yesterday mine decided to shut off when your's didn't. Seems very hit and miss to me. Fortunately, by the time I got round to watching it last night and finding out it hadn't recorded the whole programme, the break co-incided with the Sky re-run at more-or-less the same spot so I saw it all. Mrs R and I would not have been happy bunnies if we'd missed that finish!
Adder
I'm no great fan of the way Sky present speedway or the presenters they use most of the time but I have to say that on this occasion they went beyond the call of duty in a) clearing a big gap in their schedule yesterday morning at short notice, and B ) sticking with the live coverage even when it overan by almost 2 hours. The original poster says he/she is getting fed up with Sky? Well Sky must be getting pretty p***ed off with having to rearrange their schedules at short notice because of speedway!! pugwash
I'm useless with this technology thing but according to Mrs P (who does all the recording on sky+) whenever you copy a LIVE event that may over-run, then set up the start and finish times manually. Apparentely you go to "Services" - "Manual Recording" and set up whatever start and finish times that you want for that particular event. Give the finish time 'plenty of elbow room' and you won't miss the finish. Make sure that you have you're PIN number ready when you want to watch the show as the box will ask for it whenever you want to watch a manual setting prog.
