Humphrey Appleby
Ok thats the ACU been contacted asking who it is i need to speak to in regards to the matter. All I'll say is the best of British luck to you , as they'll no doubt tell you (if they answer you at all) that you need to get the FIM Statutes changed as these stipulate one national representative team per federation. Whilst the ACU represents the whole of Great Britain, then there's no chance of a Scottish team, so you'd better start lobbying the Scottish ACU to gain FIM affiliation. As has been pointed out numerous times before, when 'England' and 'Scotland' raced in the WTC, then did so with Australia and New Zealand (who were also represented by the ACU at the time) to determine the ACU representative. Later on when Australia and New Zealand formed their own federations, and Scotland was dropped anyway, the ACU representative team may well have colloquially been named as 'England', but it still represented Great Britain and appears as such in the FIM records. With respect to the World Pairs, on many occasions different countries entered two or more pairs of riders, so no doubt the English and Scottish pairs were officially GB 1 and GB 2. colincooke
It goes the same with the tennis as well, when young Murray wins he's a super Brit, when he loses he's a useless "Jock" Hee hee that'll get Snyper off on one Edited July 15, 2009 by colincooke
iris123
But when did "England" become "GB" then Humphrey? I don't know, but in the programme from saturdays meeting in Vojens it states England were in the SWC up to the Final in 2000.
Snyper1010
Well as i say Humphrey so far i have simply asked who the right person is to speak to. No point doing alot of barking if its up the wrong tree.
tarabanko
Finishing order in the race off will be... 1. Australia 2. Denmark - Even without Nicki Pedersen 3. Sweden - Ruud and Lindbäck must deliver otherwise this is the place the team will come in 4. England - A bunch of racers but arent at the same level as the Aussies, Danes or the Sweds.. No point doing alot of barking if its up the wrong tree. Why not contact "haggis" ,as i think he is one of the people leading the campaign and of course Jim McMillan is someone haggis has good contact to and is fairly high up in the FIM.His address is on the FIM website
snapper-racing.co.uk
Enough of this now - shouldnt we get behind the Great Britain team whilst we still have it.

I think Hans and Bjerre will do very good at Leszno but what about the rest? Klindt, Hougaard and Iversen? They have to deliver too if Denmark want to make it to the final. btw how are you Micke after what happened with Smederna? crazysue
Lucifer he has been in Scotland more than 5years so if a Scottish team was commisioned he could ride for them. Anyway aint one of his parents Scottish? Off topic a little good to see Stephanie Twell deciding to run for Scotland rather than England Guid Lass. Mods answering a question about a riders nationality is NOT political. Didn't matter a jot when it came to my dad.....he was born in Scotland but left there by the time he was a few months old but when it came to representing England in boxing when in his late teens, his birth certificate was examined, he was thrown out of the team and told he had to represent Scotland instead. Not that he minded of course...he just wanted to box.
Snyper1010
Maybe he hadnt went through the official means to use his residency Sue. But as i say i think Andy has a Scottish parent(s) anyway.

spook
I don't think Ole has any say in track prep for the World Cup. Only G.P's, judging from what they were saying last night about him being sat in the stand in the afternoon at P'boro whilst the track prep was taking place. The SWC is run by IMG and overseen by the FIM ....... there have been a couple of versions of what Ole's involvement is for the GP's........ it has been said that it is a case that IMG hire his expertise....... and alternatively that it is the FIM who have inserted him into the role................. the one that makes the most sense is that IMG hire him I can safely say that Ole was running the show in 2006 for the SWC just as he does for the GP's ............. complaints about the 07 Leszno track also saw fingers point at him I suspect nothing has changed as to who is in charge and as ive said before i'm sure that Ole does a lot of things very well with organisation at the top of the list............ for him to be sitting in the stands and for both Cardiff and Pboro track prep to be left to the trackstaff (what an idea! ) it points to the likely scenario that a quiet word has been had and his remit has changed
Beeone
Maybe, maybe not. I don't read newspapers so how many column inches did actually reaching the race off get? Realistically I can't see speedway getting many inches at all. The Ashes start tomorrow, some football team has spent a fortune and the golf Open starts this weekend. Where will they fit speedway in Dead right, virtually nothing so far, but where do they fit speedway in even when there is naff all else happening! krompa
http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2009/07/...go-toromistrza/ Interview with chief of Leszno trackstuff. He said he will do the track the way Ole Olsen wants him to do it. Personally he would love to do it semi-grippy but he knows it must be riders safety firstly. I'm pretty sure Olsen will tell him to prepare it as slick as hell to suit Danes! Boring gate and go I'm afraid.
tomcat
Ah well, the dream of having a decent race track for the Race off and Final was nice while it lasted.... Thanks for the headsup Krompa. Edited July 15, 2009 by tomcat
