richsimpson
I suspect nothing has changed as to who is in charge and as ive said before i'm sure that Ole does a lot of things very well with organisation at the top of the list............ for him to be sitting in the stands and for both Cardiff and Pboro track prep to be left to the trackstaff (what an idea! ) it points to the likely scenario that a quiet word has been had and his remit has changed Ole was certainly involved in the Cardiff track this year, he spent over an hour working on the cardiff track, in a tractor on the morning of the 2009 SGP. I would have a dossier on each track if I was in the role.... what worked, what didnt, what the weather was leading up to it, effects of practice etc etc ............ more importantly though I would make it my business to know how good the local track staff are, what kind of tracks they dish up and how consistently.... until I had evidence that they were crrrrap I would always trust them

mervjankefanclub
Why not contact "haggis" ,as i think he is one of the people leading the campaign and of course Jim McMillan is someone haggis has good contact to and is fairly high up in the FIM.His address is on the FIM website Pretty sure Bert Harkins called for Scotland to be recognised by the FIM as an independent body on the world stage, quite a few years back, to no avail. Maybe your man reckons he has a bit more clout than the bold Bertola

Humphrey Appleby
Primarily because Scottish isn't recognised, for reasons Humphrey will no doubt inform us of. I'm afraid that if you're not a citizen of UN member state, Taiwan, Palestine, or an officer of the Holy See or an international treaty organisation, then you don't exist in the eyes of the rest of the world. You basically need to be on the ISO 3166-1 list, and Scotland isn't nor likely to be as an internal entity of a state already on this list. iris123
removed Why not change the record.......because you were the one having a pop at me about the British GP being held in Wales.....saying you looked in your programme and all 3 home nations flags were in it,so Wales and Scotland are in Britain We know what you world is like,we have heard it a million times........i have similar political opinions.......i have supported Irish and Scottish independence, but doesn't mean i have to act like a kid and ram it down everyones throat......support who you want, but give it a rest

SCOTLAND1314
Regardless of your little protests, your nationality is British as stated on your passport. Only because I have no other choice. Ah, but that's the nationalists secret plan. They know they don't have enough support for independence north of the border, so their strategy is to aggravate the English so they tell them to get lost. People just shouldn't rise to the sillyness. In the meantime, I shall be supporting 'Team GB' until their inevitable exit from the SWC. Sadly, you are correct re not having more than 50% of the vote, although not far off, however when the referendum is rolled out in 2010, it'll be interesting to see what the % vote is then. Unfortunately, there are still a large number of people in Scotland (mostly in the west) who when they see a red rosette will vote for it. Primarily (once Labour gets in at a UK level) cos they'll still be able to claim their dole money and countless other benefits, without the slighest effort to get a job. Personally, all of these supporting team GB silly questions will be null and void if Scotland were an independent country. Then we could have a Scottish speedway team for us to support, I for one would applaud that opportunity.
Humphrey Appleby
But when did "England" become "GB" then Humphrey? I don't know, but in the programme from saturdays meeting in Vojens it states England were in the SWC up to the Final in 2000. The 'Team GB' thing is relatively recent in terms of what the team is called for home consumption. However, in all the official communications I've seen from the FIM over the years, it's 'ACU' or 'Great Britain'. I'll have to dig out some old foreign programmes to see what the name of national team was called in Eighties and Nineties outside of Britain, but from memory it's a bit of a mix. However, using the local equivalent of 'England' wouldn't necessarily prove anything anyway, as the term is often used (incorrectly) by foreigners to apply to the whole of the UK.
