I personally think Rob Lyon has taken a brave decision - but the right one in his selection for tonight. With or without Scott and Lee we were never going to beat the likes of the Aussies or Poles to win the meeting and go straight to the final and likewise, with or without Scott and Lee I can't for the life of me see us being beaten by the Slovenians.

So it's the perfect opportunity to give the younger lads some WTC experience which will hopefully make them better prepared for the next few seasons when we may be better equiped to challenge for the WTC.

Whatever happens I think whatever team Rob put out would take us to the race off and then its time to put our strongest team out, even though our passage to the final through that looks nigh on impossible with Sweden, Denmark and one of Poland (most likely) or the Aussies our opponents on Thursday.

How much - £30 for Grandstand seating

No wonder speedway isnt pulling the punters with that price - blimey. Makes no sense at all.

Its cheaper to go to Cardiff

I'll be watching at home - Im ill at the mo ne ways :(

This seems like a two horse race to me....

Hope Team GB can do something - but think they will only be racing against the Slovenians in reality. Hope im wrong though.

Think the right team was picked though because using the same riders every year isnt working -

we need to take example from the Russians and how they have suddenly gained some good riders if we are to be successful in the future -

the fact is they slowly got better - not just straight away.

Poland and Australia should have a good battle though

I would predict a Poland win though

I reckon the Aussies to go through with the Poles second and making their way to the play off which they will be satisfied with.

The Brits will keep in contention for second due to the Slovaks more often than not occupying last whilst the Aussies finish first meaning the two middle teams stay fairly close. At around heat 19/20 the Brits will fold and end up third.

Kings selection will be the main bone of contention with the Brit fans after the meeting, due to him only beating Slovaks.

I presume you mean Slovenians?

I think that with Rico in this side we could have challenged for the win with the Aussie injury worries and the Polska's having some temperamental riders in their midst.

As it stands we will be fighting for 3rd....

IMO King is not the weak link in your team, Kennett and Bridger (possible even Tai) are.

The only two riders in your team that have been quite successful on tracks of proper length, against good opposition is Harris and King.

The forecast is for possible light showers this afternoon (if we are unlucky as they hit & miss)

Any showers will die away this afternnon to leave a clear, dry night.

I am not at the track but doubt there is anything at all to worry about

(The odd shower might be a blessing anyway to turn the probable Ole Olsen dustbowl to something closely resembling a decent speedway track)

If you had ordered your tickets before 1/7/09 a grandstand seat was only £20, in fact for adults paying on the turnstiles tonight it is still only £20 to stand.

I think for 25 heats of racing plus the attraction of some of the top riders not seen on these shores this year I think this is a good price.

To put it into some perspective, an Elite league match at Peterborough is £16 for only 15 heats with less quality riders.

Thats a good forecast! Yesterday the showers were coming through about 7pm.

So if the wind stays strong this should push through nice and early.

Must take blanket with the waterproof back though - dont want wet bums!!!!

It's going to be an embarrasing performance from Team GB or England or whatever you want to call it. I actually hope Slovenia beat us to show that p***k Rob Lyon what a pratt hes been by selecting the team he has.

Rightly or wrongly Rob has picked the team and he is 100% behind them just like the GB fans should be.God how this country has changed over the decades.

By hoping Slovenia actually beat Team GB shows who the real P***K is.

I agree - we should be supporting his decision - I think Rob Lyon said all the right things in the media.

Where has all the loyalty and pride gone from this country - its a disgrace.

The whole reason a lot of our sports teams struggle is because there is no self belief and we seemingly expect to lose.

Whats the use of putting out the same guys year in year out, its time we took a chance and blooded some youngsters.

And should really introduce a new one every year to continue development - Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.

A team which may lack in ability and yet exhibit spirit and confidence could make anything happen.

Dont shoot them down - we should be trying to boost them up
