Exactly, give over will you. it's the fans right to expect one of England's top riders to be there to help his team mates (illness excused). With all his bad press of late he would be getting a lot of postive publicity had he been doing what Richardson was last night.

How do you know his team mates (well not really his team mates seeing he's not going to get picked) wanted him there ?

I didn't see Joe Screen there either but I don't see anyone mentioning that. I wonder why?

The only people whinging about Scott not being there are the ones who can't stop slagging him off. If he was there he would have come in for some kind of stick because those who don't like him would have just posted some negative crap about why he shouldn't have been there.

There are a number of possiblitys as to why he wasn't there.

Until we know the reason, no-one should presume to know everything about it and slate him.

The simple fact is none of us know, so how can we say he was right or wrong?

Completely agree, think that some people are deluding themselves that the team are youngsters. Sorry, cannot buy that. Not on the world stage. Look at all the Polish, 'the' Russian, Aussie teenagers coming through. Tai is a concern, he seems to be 'plateau-ing' this season on an international/individual basis.

We will come last. I hate to say that, but unless these 5 are changed, it will be last place. I am not being anti-anyone. Just a realist. I guess we will see who is right on Thursday night.

change the 5 to who?

He did get a mention for not turning up to Swindon v Poole though.

I guess the issue is that Scott was originally named as captain.

id love to see a fully confident scott nicholls lead the way but remember the 2 who let us down last year.if nicholls came last in his first ride hes head would drop and this would inpact on the rest of the team.no one can deny team spirit is better without him.also i hope rico as a good thursday cuz he let us down last year but listening to him he seems up for it and seems to want to prove he is top brit

I think that was more of a 'thing' against Poole at the time to be honest.

My point Grachan is that some people are only concentrating on Scott because they don't like him, no other reason.

If he had been there, I'm quite sure that some would have said he shouldn't be there, that he should let Bomber get on with the Captains job, that he shouldn't be offering advice when he can't win himself, that he's having a bad effect on morale etc etc.

is it?

or is that code for 'its my right to be able to knock the guy for no reason' ??

Hardly knocking the guy for no reason is it? Turned his back on British speedway, returned only when his form was so poor he had no choice, throws tantrums on live TV by throwing his bike down, fighting with another rider at the British GP after he had took that rider right out to the fence and seemingly a no show to help his team mates out at the SWC.

Is that enough for you Spook?

Shazzy im fully aware i can support who i want. But im called a xenophobe if i dont support "team gb" so i was asking is it really expected to gain support from all the "home nations" when they kept making it more than clear it was England and no one else. Maybe now Snapper will come down from that high horse and see sense. Then he may even see why i love seeing them getting stuffed.

I love how the English are screaming about how well they did. You finished 3rd from 3teams and 1 extra rider. Not really much to shout about is it really? The Aussies, Swedes and Danes really are going to give you a master class in SWC racing on Thursday.

C'mon, Snyper, you are giving us Scots a bad name!

The team is Great Britain but all the riders in it are English (even Tai), so you can't really complain when some people mistakenly call the team, 'England'. Once we have a Scottish rider in the Great Britain team, (I hate this 'Team GB' title), THEN we can complain if it is called, 'England'.

We used to have a separate Scotland team in FIM events, World Team Cup, World Best Pairs, (where we qualified for the World Final in Sweden) and we were recognized as a separate Speedway nation, but now the FIM says that we have to come under the 'Great Britain' banner.

The goalposts have been moved since those heady days.

To be recognized by the FIM, we need to haven FIM-approved track in Scotland and somehow I cannot see that happening, but there are still behind-the-scenes moves to try to get Scotland back into the qualifying rounds.

Anyway, let's wish the BRITISH team, All The Best for Poland and try not to be too negative when a rider doesn't score as many points as you would like, this is World Championship Speedway and no-one can become an overnight sensation these days.

Sorry, just to add to this. Maybe I misunderstood and that Nicholls is not in the squad for the SWC? If he is not in the squad fair enough.

a geat night of speedway, but lets take a reality check here.

GB were extremely entertaining, but were they any good? err no!

after heat 15 virtually picked up no points except against the slovians.

take away for guaranteed third places and what are you left with?

eddie of the pace beat no one

tai off the pace beat no one

bomber 1 good ride

lewis 1 good ride

danny king 2 good rides

thats it 4 good heats out of 25, the odds that we will get into double figures in the playoff are not good.

fantastic night thou!

Depends if you cound good rides winning? For example Bomber finished last in one ride, but for one lap he was storming around the outside of everyone, and he ended upwith zero, but deserved more.

I also beliece King hads 3 good rides, won one race, finished second to Gollob after leading him for most of the race and then finished second to beat Leigh Adams, no mean feat.

Actually yes you do, Arsenal v Hull springs to mind where the Arsenal player that was not selected turned up on the touchline to support his team mates, and got into that ruck with the Hull manager.

Man Utd often showed Ronaldo and Rooney in the stands when not selected.

Hi you lot

How many of you armchair critics would have the guts to pick the team that Rob Lyons did, it had got to happen and you armchair experts fistly I doubt if you would have took the job and secondly if you had the job you would not be seen for dust.

If it was left to you in ten years time you would be trying to justify having Nichols and even Malcolm Simmpons in the team because they both had o good meeting in outer mongolia in 1991. I suggest you sit down infront of Sky and eat your bag of chrisps and play with the toy out of the bag.

Keep the Lyons roar

Keep up Bozzy, we had this debate week ago ;) and in fairness to a lot of people on here, those that were critical a week ago have coem back on this thread and admitted they were wrong. So fair play to those users that have done that.
