garyy
An excellent nights entertainment on a properly prepared track. Olsen and a large number of promotors to take note. Give the riders the track and they will produce the goods. No matter at what level. If the product was always like this the people would want to watch. The Lyon gamble, imo worked fully, the youngsters tried there hearts out and will have learnt much from it. All you can ask from anyone is they try their best and I believe they did. The Captain - I don't care who he is once named as squad captain, and presumably accepting that role, should be there with the team. Until I hear of a very vary good excuse I feel the non appearance as a poor show andi mo opinion shows why we have had no team spirit of late. Thursday's team - Do we have riders available whoose current form could improve the team? Richardson from what I have seen is scoring well in Poland and beating many of the riders from the race off teams and I therefore feel can improve the side. Nicholls again from reputation should be able to improve the side, however, we are all aware of his problems and in Poland has been awful and lost his place to McGowan at Wroclaw recently. I would therefor go for a line up of Harris - will fight all the way Richardson - currentl top GB performer in Poland King - earn't the place last night Bridger - for the future and reasonable, not great, in Polish league Woffinden - As Bridger I leave out Kennett as he still needs to develop large track skills and his move away from Eastbourne will help, this puts him just behind Bridger and Woofy Nicholls - Needs to be allowed to get his head right and confidence back and imo would not make a significant improovement to the team chances at this time. No doubt I will have enraged some but its just my view
RPNY
I think Rico & Scott should come in for Tai & Eddie. Im almost certain Scott wont ride in Poland but I think he should. Tai is an excellent prospect but he is not exactly ripping up the Elite league and he looked a wee bit out of his depth last night. It was a fantastic meeting and I was very proud of team GB, but the reality is we were 20 points behind the winners and need to strengthen. I can understand we are building for the future, but we should still at least try and do everything we can to qualify for the final. Looking at the weaknesses Sweden & the Danes have now, we are in with a shot. Rico is obviously a done deal from what he said in his interview last night, Scott I doubt, but after his best GP of the season and a few good meetings for Ippo, he should be ridding on Thusrday IMO. Jacques
Some people are never happy... Great night, brilliant track, brilliant racing. Danny King was awesome!! I was pretty happy with team GB all in all, they fought their hearts out that's for sure. Great to see the Ippo gang there, although they some of them were wearing some seriously dodgy garb... Agreed, Tai was off the pace & with stronger opposition is unlikely to repeat five thirds for 5 points on Thurs - Scott will have two or three rubbish rides but is more likely to win a couple & should have the bit between his teeth. Our main aim must be not to come last - in any race or the meeting - & seconds & thirds could see us total 40+ & be in with a chance. The scores might be as close as 45, 42, 38,34. Guest Ashie Smashy
I just watched it again (luckily I work from home) and trusly fantastic stuff, nearly every race had real speedway racing and often not just 1 or 2 riders racing for first, it was often 1,2,3 riders swapping places for the first and second for four laps. If the semi and final are half as good as last night then we will have a week of truly fantastic speedway. In fact last night was so good I even forgave Pearson for his usual shouting and for announcing Zagar at the back just as he goes inside Crump for the lead in heat 20. Truly amazing speedway, and riders, track staff and fans all deserve praise for their parts in one of the best speedway meetings seen in a long time. Guest Ashie Smashy
GB will be lucky to get into double figures. Disagree, we will not qualify, but I think we will spoil a few races to give us a respectable score.
NathanB
I can't believe all the negativity I have read on this thread so far. We have a lot to be proud of last night. People need to understand that we are not one of the big contenders at the moment but I saw a lot last night to make me feel proud. The performance of King was superb and I thought Harris and Bridger showed glimpses of what they are capable. As for Nicholls he should never be allowed to pull on a GB racejacket again. Where was he supporting the lads? As for the race off, Rico for Kennett definately but the others i would keep. Lets get behind them, we probably wont win but in a fe years with this experience we may be a contender again.

Guest Ashie Smashy
Bit harsh you dont know what the reasons are for him not being there. Would he have been there had he been selected? Yes So no real excuses, other than health reasons for him not to be there and helping out like Loram and Richardson were. I don't like Richardson as a rider, but praise where it is due, he showed he was a real team player last night and that deserves much respect. NathanB
Bit harsh you dont know what the reasons are for him not being there. It's not just him not being there last night it is his whole attitude towards British speedway.
Eastie
Personally I would say King was the most surprising selection last night, and comments on here and on Sky have backed that up. I was surprised by it myself. Tai and Lewis are seen much more as the future of British speedway, and Kennett was GP wild card and was an obvious selection along with Harris. Before last night I think most people would have had King as the rider to make way for Richardson. I suspect he'll keep his place now though, so a worthwhile exercise to include him in my opinion - as I said in my original post. It will be interesting to see if he can raise his game in Poland, but I suspect we will struggle whatever side we put out - much to the delight of a few traitorous Scots! Danny King is used to the track at Peterborough but will be interesting how he gets on in Poland if he rides. Bridger should go as he rides in Poland ,Woofy should go as well and I would swap Kennett for Richardson
spook
oh give over will you why after a night that shines a positive light on our team do we have to have something (anything!) negative posted? .... lets all go back to the trusty punchbag Scott Nicholls you dont know why he wasnt there............. you dont know who made the decision for him not to be there ...... you dont know what the situation is or how it is being dealt with............. I suspect that the England manager does and it is his job to deal with it............. I suspect that is and will happen whether it involves dialogue or simple team build actions Quite honestly it really isnt our business until the manager wants to make it our business and by choosing to make trouble where there may well not it only undermines the good that is actually coming out of this campaign

linus
Considering the race-off and final are in Poland, and I have too much time on my hands, I thought it might be interesting to look at the Polish League averages for the competing nations... Guest Ashie Smashy
oh give over will you Exactly, give over will you. it's the fans right to expect one of England's top riders to be there to help his team mates (illness excused). With all his bad press of late he would be getting a lot of postive publicity had he been doing what Richardson was last night.
