Firstly I want to stand up and apologise to Danny King.

I thought he would be a let down but he was awesome and he has a new fan this morning after the determination shown last night.

Heat 20 was easily the best race I have ever seen and I've watched speedway all my life.

Crumpy is a total legend and I would give my right arm (and my leg too) to have him back at Belle Vue!!!

I really enjoyed the whole meeting and am back in love with speedway again. Bring on Thursday!!!

I love how the English are screaming about how well they did. You finished 3rd from 3teams and 1 extra rider. Not really much to shout about is it really? The Aussies, Swedes and Danes really are going to give you a master class in SWC racing on Thursday.

You don't half post some crap!!!

I don't see anyone on here "screaming" about how well GB did. People are just taking the positives from last night, a young team that battled very well. Harris and Kennett were disappointing IMO but lets not forget there were some that reckoned we faced a battle for 3rd!!!

That said I expect it to be very difficult on Thursday but with Rico in for Kennett we may get the odd third place here and there.

What a great advert for speedway this was.

Thanks heavens the rain came & good old Buster was able to do some work on the track, we heard from commentary that Mr Olsen wasn't best pleased hehe. :approve:

From a British perspective that was pretty much as i expected result wise but was disappointed with Eddie's performance. Danny & Lewis though we're fantastic & proved Rob Lyon was right with his selection, gutted for Danny in his last outing though.Let's not forget that Lewis defeated the mighty Tomasz Gollob.

In reality i think the race-of is as far as we're going, those lads will learn from experience of Leszno though & gee is it gonna be a hell of a lesson.

The Poles, to a man, thoroughly deserve their progression to the final, Miedzinski was a surprise & certainly hope he is 1 of the Brandon targets. I still have my doubts if we' targeting Pepe, even though he was superb last night....and what about the fence scraping, scary or what.

Can't wait for the race- off now.

Blaze i dont know how many posts i have read that have said how great the team did etc. For England not to get third would had to of been THE biggest sporting upset ever seen. You will see the real gulf in class come Thursday when there is no 4th team there to ease your passage through. 3 of the Worlds top teams England really will look out of place. Like a Slovenia of the meeting even.

In context they did "great". No one expects them to be anything other than outclassed on Thursday but why let that get in the way of your anti British diatribe eh?

It isnt anti anything. It was obvious the Slovenians were going to get hammered and also the Czechs maybe im anti them too eh. Its called sense. That England will not get past the three teams in the race off.

And as i mentioned the team want to be known as England or atleast they gave that impression with the amount of times they used the name. So how you can still bring "Britain" into it is beyond me.

The "Team" bit is fine - but whoever heard of a decent Scot, Welsh or Irish rider?

Talking of "changes", Rob Lyon needs to make 5.

You ask about a decent Scottish, Welsh or Irish rider??........How about Double World Champion, Freddie Williams from Wales? Or Jim McMillan, George Hunter, Ken McKinlay, Tommy Miller, etc from Scotland?

Ireland? well, they don't have any Speedway tracks and the Irish only rider I can remember is Dom Perry of Wimbledon.

Also, the Scots trying to regroup and who knows,.....Maybe we could take on Slovenia or the 'American Dream Team' and put up a good show.

Dont be silly Haggis the Scots shouldnt be allowed a team because we wouldnt win. As i said earlier in the thread that people conveniently overlooked. If it was about winning England wouldnt have a team either. Also all the talk was of the team having fun and gaining experience. So why should Scotland not be able to have a team to go out and have fun and gain experience. We would have to go through the qualifiers like everyone else. If we didnt make it then so be it atleast we would of tried and been represented. If we did make it then fantastic would make a few people eat some words.

It isn't possible due to the ACU I believe. I stand to be corrected though, maybe you should start your own league as well......

So why would Rico have been riding instead of King? It's only fans on here who were ridiculing Dannys selection, maybe Rob would have picked Rico before Tai or Lewis in which case we'd have been a bit closer still!

Personally I would say King was the most surprising selection last night, and comments on here and on Sky have backed that up. I was surprised by it myself.

Tai and Lewis are seen much more as the future of British speedway, and Kennett was GP wild card and was an obvious selection along with Harris. Before last night I think most people would have had King as the rider to make way for Richardson. I suspect he'll keep his place now though, so a worthwhile exercise to include him in my opinion - as I said in my original post.

It will be interesting to see if he can raise his game in Poland, but I suspect we will struggle whatever side we put out - much to the delight of a few traitorous Scots!

I thought it was a terrific meeting and the poles, there just great arnt they. What an advert for speedway in this country, miles better than last year.I stood on the backstraight surrounded by poles and what an atmosphere they generate.I would also congratulate the organisation, although one or two more food and drink outlets would have been good.On the racing, the poles were just superb and i dont remember Miedinski riding like that before when he rode for Swindon.

I can't understand your prejudice against Team GB, Snyper, they are your representatives and they did you proud. Maybe you need to clean those Tartan-tinted glasses of yours?

There were plenty of Union flags in evidence, the team's T-shirts incorporated them and it said Team GB on the programme.

Mind you, you had to be there early to get one. Apparently only 2000 were printed and they'd disappeared by seven o'clock. Might have been the only evidence of poor planning since they'd pre-sold over 3000 tickets.

...and what about that super Haggis who rode for the Wembley Lions back in 1970/71 - one of my first idols!

Hindsight. Nobody would have suggested Kennett should be left out prior to tonight, so this kind of comment is not really helpful.

Couldn't agree more. In fact, I would go even further. As the objective for this year's Team GB is to gain experience at this level, I would be inclined to leave the team unchanged for the play-offs. On the basis of this years British Championship, Bomber is our Number 1 and Eddie is our Number 2. Furthermore, he beat LR for the coveted British GP Wildcard. One "iffy" meeting should not be looked upon in isolation in my view. His form this season has overall been very good, and I understand that Bees supporters are more than happy to have him on board. He used not to like the Coventry track, but seems now to have mastered it. Who's to say that after Peterborough (apparently the designated Polish track is not too dissimilar), he won't put in a cracking performance. Either way, it will be a further building block in the development of a young and forward looking team, which let's face it, we are in desparate need of.

On another note, I wish I'd taken a hat with me last night, for I am sure I brought half the Peterborough track home in my hair. Worth it though. What an absolutely cracking meeting. For years now, I have been praying for dirt on the track. I remember when Oxford had a deep track and the fantastic racing it used to produce. What is 'track-craft' without a TRACK worthy of being called a speedway track? I agree with all of those calling for Mr. Olsen to keep his oar out forthwith, regarding the matter of track preparation. Many more meetings like last night's and the terraces will start to fill up once more.

I suppose being an Ippo fan I'm more aware of Dannys worth than others who would only see him on Sky, as quite often his effort on track don't always reflect in his points. Also he's not the "big I am" and just quietly gets on with the job he's paid to do. To me, Bridger would have been chosen behind King, but I'm sure Eastie fans would feel justified in saying differently. Easy to say in hindsight who should have been picked. Who would have thought Kennett would be the weakest link. I'm just glad Danny was able to silence his critics in the best way possible-on track. :)

But, Thursday is another kettle of fish and I think whoever is riding is going to have a devil of a job against such strong opposition.

Everything about last night was brilliant. The track, the presentation, the lack of queues to get in and out. The selling of beer in cans so it woud be quicker than selling pints and although I missed the fireworks I'm told they were excellent too.

Also, well done to Danny King, he proved me wrong.
