screm
I didnt say they would give it up. It should be taken off them. I think the result mentioned proves that if the meeting was not at Worky they would not have won it. As i say if i was a Worky fan or if the meeting was at Edinburgh i wouldnt be getting too excited about the result. If I was a Workington fan I wouldnt give a monkeys what any other fan said as my team just won the Fours. Cant we just congratulate Workington on their win. Snyper1010
wjm dont tell me what i would and wouldnt be doing. I AM TELLING YOU! i would be calling for heads if Edinburgh hadnt won it at Armadale. Workington do not have the strongest top4 in the league. Put the 4s on any other track and that would be proven. 1stBend
Workington battled hard for the win, however my family and I were very impressed with Somerset.

Snyper1010
wjm you dont half latch on like a leech. Suppose when you have a team as poor as Workington and with fans as hated as they have to have to feel sorry for them and give them something. Therefore they get given the 4s title. As i said, well done to the REAL 4s winner Somerset, the REAL 2nd place team Edinburgh and the REAL 3rd place finishers Berwick.

Berwick were 4th We don't need to try and massage our egos in the way the Monarchs do. Workington won it ....really. Snyper1010
We have nothing to massage we are more successful than Workington so no egos to massage. I just dont get how they can get so excited. But as i say when you as pish as they are then you will celebrate anything you can.

Is this the team that sits in 3rd place in the PL while the Monarchs are in 9th.

I don't think their fans want people to feel sorry for them, and I don't think they are hated as much as you like to imagine. Their riders worked hard for the title, but it's always a little easier on home soil. They won the meeting, it will say in the books that Workington won the PL 4TT 2009, paint it whichever way you like it, but that's what the history books will say, not Somerset, not Edinburgh and not Berwick. Workingtons team is not poor, I have seen far worse. It's top heavy with a long tail, it isn't the first and most certainly won't be the last team to have such a set up. Well done Worky on being the winners of the PL 4TT Edited July 27, 2009 by crikeythatsfast
seedef27
My nomination for "Best post of the year".............. So far................... Sorry to say this forum is going down hill fast, yes ok we all like a laugh and a joke but some of the posts especially on the PL are just childish/immature/offensive/abusive................ delete as appropriate. *bows head sheepishly* ...Erm sorry won't happen again...Erm.. till next time
comet49
Thank you Crikeythatsfast. Just a few points..... I tend to agree neutral tracks are better but attendances arn't great With the top 3 we have it would have been a bit of a shock if we hadn't won, though they have all been beatable at home this year. It's not long since Somerset won it at Workington, and we did win it at Peterborough. We only won it last year in a run off with Kings Lynn and wouldn't have been in a position to win if Richard Hall hadn't passed somebody in a late race thus eliminating them . The top heavy 3 have all lowered their averages while the long tail have increased theirs, if only.....but that's life Edited July 27, 2009 by comet49
carlisle_comet
Top riders in the league? hammered 62-28 dont kid yourself. That result against Newcastle just proves how you have no where near the strongest top 4. But then you cumbrians are so blind you wont realise that. Got to remember the 4th member of the comets on saturday started the season as a 3point reserve, and this time last year had just started to ride a speedway bike. I will agree the comets probably don't have the strongest top 4 in the league.....but we've got the best top 3!!!!...................................until newcastle away! It would be interesting to see the attendance figures for PL tracks which have held it and when it's been held at the EOES.

Snyper1010
Season aint over yet. Still a long way to go lets not be counting any chickens. Also the league positions you mentioned doesnt make Workington a more succesful club. Crikey the history books will also say it was at Workington that they wont it. Oh dear they will never get rid of the "only win at the home track" tag.
