saranam
agree with earlier comments some teams had a spearhead rider one or two had a little back up from a second rider but worky were a different class in their top 3 they all rode as N0 1's and i have to say they would have been very close pretty much anywhere i am looking forward to it being the blue touch paper we are looking for our top 3 fitting their billing. roll on this afternoon
Dekker
Good call.....Peterborough is the 4's spiritual home for me but Wolverhampton would also be a good venue if we got the standard of racing which Monmore provides on Sky.Wolverhampton couldnt hold the crowd with being restricted to home straight. Brummie Kev
Wolverhampton couldnt hold the crowd with being restricted to home straight. I dont know, they did host the British Final in 2007 which is a big event and I see no reason why they couldnt host this one.
mythman666
But in general, I must say as a Berwick fan that I was so proud of all 4 of our team last night (yes, that does even include Tero there who scored 2 points to help take us through as group winners )... Predicted to finish nowhere but we went through to the final and then were right in the running for 2nd place until the final heat... Take a bow boys... You made a lot of people happy last night Very true, the boys in Black and Gold did us proud last night and were pretty unlucky not to grab a podium place too. dump that clutch
could anyone who went to the meeting email me the scorecard please, as i would like to generate an excel doc for this particular meeting. I could copy most from the brilliant updates site but i wouldn't know who rode in what colour. thanks in advance
Trees
But one thing we did do is prove why we have the best riders in the league and i strongly believe the result would have been the same on a "neutral" track. I don't think Compton would have been so good anywhere else, Doolan and Rymel yes.
topaz325
I don't think Compton would have been so good anywhere else, Doolan and Rymel yes. What about Sheffield, Berwick, Glasgow,Redcar,Edinburgh.............

Snyper1010
i strongly believe the result would have been the same on a "neutral" track. You seriously believe you would of won that title at Armadale? Not a hope in hell. We was discussing the home track advantage on the way home and we agreed that the PL teams who do not have a team in it should be drawn out a hat at random to see who holds it. This gives yearly variation and no home track advantage. Congrats to Somerset the "real" 4s winners. 2nd place was really anyone could have hoped for. The back straight mob, learn a new song eh. the Worky worky worky worky workington got abit repetitive. Nice to see them decked out in everything bar a workington item. The village was missing a few idiots that night im guessing. The racing was shocking with only a few good passes. Nice to talk to Porter Poolie who by the end of the night was rather unsteady on his feet haha good to see people having a good time. Snyper1010
Just truth. As for no home track advantage. Why has Doolan been going in on a Friday to do the track prep? Answer; he hasnt been happy with the place for long enough So they let him prepare it exactly how he wants it. EDIT as for it being what you expected. Thats a total lie. what people expect was for me to come on singing the praises of Fish. To shout down any bad decision against Edinburgh etc. So really if you stopped lying you would notice its not what you expected. Silly Boy? the only silly boy around here are the ones who say that Worky would have won it on any track. We know that is complete pish. As i say put it at Armadale and you could guarentee the winner before the first heat. Edited July 26, 2009 by Snyper1010

Same applies if it was held at Kings Lynn, Please lets have a neutral Venue, as was initially planned for the super 7 series, this also stands for the EL Pairs PL pairs and so forth

RobMcCaffery
Congratulations to Workington on their sixteenth home victory of the year. Obviously this time it was rather tougher than normal but nonetheless they remain unbeaten at home. Some have claimed that Derwent Park has no home advantage. If that is so why haven't the Comets won a similar amount of away meetingsd? Of course staging these supposedly-prestigious events on the track of one of the participating teams reduces it to a farce in sporting terms but I doubt very much that those are the terms underconsideration when planning this event. It's simply a money-maker for the BSPA held at a track that can generate plenty of it. The fans will turn up, cash in the bank - easy. Several people mentioned how Peterborough is the spiritual home of the 4TT. That was fine though whenever the Panthers weren't in the finals. As many will remember then Peterborough matched Workington's achievements most years. Now however that's academic so it is time to use a track like that again. Of course Workington had to do the job on-track but even the most one-eyed of five minute speedway fans would realise that they had a significant help in achieving it. Back to qualifiers and a neutral venue if you're running a sporting event - leave it as it is if you're just out to take money off supporters but don't try to pretend it's the former. Rob McCaffery. Snyper1010
"hollow victory" was a word used and that sums up what this was for Workington perfectly. They only stood to lose from this and anything short of taking the "title" would have been a disaster for them.
carlisle_comet
Sour grapes on here.....yes workington did have an advantage but ther quality of the riders on show was good, Magnus Karlson, max last time, fisher max last time, topinka always good, the list goes on. My point is comets were favourites but it had to be won in a strong field. As for moving the 4's, these meetings get allocated at the start of the year, but the teams which compete are only decided about a month before, to late to have another PL track organise a big meeting like this. Peterbourgh may have been home of the 4's for a long time however, do they want the 4's now??????
