Greg Hancock

Recommended Posts

I wondered when someone would comment about Greg as he seems to be getting the same compulsive repetitive disorder as Gollob. At least the comments have cleared up why he's doing it because here was me thinking he just liked the pat on the bum he always got from his mechanic.

Hans mechanic seems to have a particular liking for doing that as well I noticed :D

So all the opinions with posts in the thread about getting in the spotlight from a TV coverage for his sponsors, by re-checking the slack in the rear chain are not looking very strong at all really chaps at this stage.

So I've got it right then Jim. It is purely for the pat on the bum.

I thought that there was a real practical reason for it tbh. My daughter mentioned it a couple of times and I said it was most likely a routine where he does a clutch start with the rear tyre under weight pressure on the track and not on the stand, and they just making sure in taking up any slack on the chain. He does not feature in most of the pre- starts on TV on Saturday until only once in the semi, I think.

Sometimes the bike is wheeled out without being started . then comes the chain performance . if you look closely at a replay most times no adjustments take place . the mechanic just undoes the spindle nut and does it back up , If it's keeping the sponsors happy and maybe attracting new ones all the better

Not very strong at all Jim because like most posts on here it is all made up nonsense.

It is simply because the wheel has been off and Greg likes to check the chain tension after a practice start just to make sure the wheel has not slipped back a touch and overtightened the chain.

It is unlikely to happen and in 99% of cases all the mechanic does is check the slack and re tension the wheel bolts.

It is just part of Greg's routine, but its basis is in making sure the chain is OK rather than the advertising nonsense spouted above

what sort of speedway bike have you been working on ? (never been within 10 feet of one is my guess) I've never seen one make the wheel slip back in fact it's the exact opposite the wheel pulls forward under the load from the chain and the chain slackens . the wheeel slipping backwards is more than unlikely to happen it does not happen IN 100% of cases . you're the one spouting nonsense here . try posting on a thread you Know something about .

i think a lot of what happens has to do with sponsor promotion, and i have no problem with that for the riders. if it helps them, more power to em. they are on the fringe of motorsport, and it is a way forward for speedway and themselves. cheesy? yes, but necessary. i do get irritated with the blantant commercialism with nascar at times tho, when it gets over the top. my cheerios toyota camry dodge was awesome today, and thank you to pepsi for keeping me hydrated, m&ms for my energy, chiffon toilet paper for keeping my hemmeroids at bay so i was comfortable in the drivers seat, miller lite beer for making life worth living, ..and...ummm...oh yeah.. thanks to my car owner.... uh, and crew, they did an ummm... ..awesome job..also, my wife for putting up with my sorry butt, my mom, my kids, God (without him none of this would have been possible).. craftsman tools.. filthy w*ore management co. for lookin after me, etc. etc. then, one hour later they are in their cessna citation jets at 40,000 feet headed to their mansion for a well deserved 1 day rest. (i could get into the speedy guys getting into that vibe.)

Speedibee you claimed Hans Andersen hadnt won a single GP so i doubt that makes your word anymore realiable than that of anyone else on here.

I have been a speedway mechanic for my two nephews 1983 - 1992 , and my son 1995 to present day . In all those years and all the speedway meetings I have been involved with, I have never seen a chain tighten itself through doing a practise start . I don't care whether you think my word is reliable or not because i don.t care what you think at all .
