wotnoaj
So you are a Scott Nicholls fan then?? I don't blame you for sticking up for him I do the same to my friends and favourites no matter what but come on ........... if you're a speedway fan even you must know what Scott is like when it comes to spitting out his dummy No I'm not a Scotty fan, I don't have a particular favourite to be honest, just riders I like to watch. I'm only sticking up for him because I think he gets a lot of uncalled for stick. I would do the same no matter what rider was involved. I just find it odd that people can make judgements about people they know nothing about. I understand that not everyone likes everyone, there are riders that I'm not mad about but I don't look for every excuse I can to have a dig and I give them credit when it's due. Yes I've seen Scott get the hump or spit his dummy out as you say, but I've also seen a lot of other riders do it. I don't think theres anything unusual about that though, we all get frustrated when things go wrong, I know I've spat mine out occasionally! I've seen Greg the grin spit his out! shazzybird
I'm only sticking up for him because I think he gets a lot of uncalled for stick. Not so long ago Scott was one of the most popular riders (ok not as popular as Markie but heyho) he's changed his whole attitude to fans, fellow riders, team mates etc etc the only "stick" he gets is what he's done for himself!!!! wotnoaj
Not so long ago Scott was one of the most popular riders (ok not as popular as Markie but heyho) he's changed his whole attitude to fans, fellow riders, team mates etc etc the only "stick" he gets is what he's done for himself!!!! Fair enough if thats what you think of him but I can't say I've seen it. Met/seen him a few times. Always been polite, had time to say a few words to people, be nice to the kids etc. Not been any different to any other rider in the pits. To be honest, theres been others who haven't been so nice but I'm not going to name them, maybe they were having a bad day, I can't say for sure because I don't know them. I just think people read too much into every action. Once people get a thing about someone, they tend to jump on everything and see it only one way, a bit like the ones that laid the blame of the Cardiif punch up squarely at his feet. I saw a post on here a while back now, can't remember who it was but they described an incident that happened after a GP. Apparently someone had been robbed and lost pretty much everything. Scott, after having another nightmare GP, stopped at the hotel to see if there was anything he could do to help the guy. Not too bad an attitude shown there. As I say, I'm not a Scotty fan, I've posted on other threads that I feel leaving him out of the GB squad was the right thing to do and I wouldn't bring him in for the Polish rounds either. Nazza
Fans !!!!!!!!!!!....you obviously did see him signing about a thousand autographs at Ipswich on Thursday...posing for photos etc.... jb Wasn't it his 1st match for Ipswich at home tho? He would sign autographs to get on the good side of fans. Fair play for Rico for turning up last night Scotty should take notes from the main English man
orion
I'd like to know why he wasn't there too. Can't think of any possible reason why he would have been asked to stay away, so people will assume that again he's having another hissy. If Rico, Hans, Rune etc can be bothered to show, its pretty feeble that Scott can't make the short journey across East Anglia to support the other lads. To be fair Rune, Rico and Hans look like are going to take part in this World cup at a later date ....i Don't think Scott is likely to and looks like he has fallen out with Lyon and most of the other lads . Based on that and the fact he could have a night in with Miss Blake it's no surprise he was not there .
Ross
Amazing how many people know what Scott should be and shouldn`t be doing. It would have been wrong what ever he decided to do, this is Scott Nicholls we are talking about.90% of posts on here are are to put the man down but how many have 100% correct information. This will blow over and then somebody else will be in spotlight for the forum bashing. If i was him i would be asking myself why this season has turned out like it has and its not all about how he didnt start the season here, his bikes look slow. WTC 2004 I saw a totally different Scott to what I see now, I spoke with him in Cardiff he's still the same old Scott off track. Anyway this isn't really what we are here to discuss it's the current TEAM GB and as I always get told off for going off topic slightly I apologise for doing so (looks for a little angel cross devil smilie here)
wolfy
All i know is that if i did not like someone as much as some do with Scotty i would not waste my time typing about it on a keyboard, sad really. Would be nice to see more discussion about the approach that was taken last night with the team, which for my two penny's worth was needed. wolfy!!!!! I was there in the pits and the excitment amongst the kids who got his autograph and spoke to him was great to see - these kids are the future fans of this sport so ANY rider that takes time to encourage them and make them feel special should be applauded regardless of people personal opinions on that rider (most of which is based on gossip and hear say) By your own admission Shazzy you HATE Lee Richardson, I guess he must of done something terribly personally to you in order for you to feel that strongly (or you're just being mellowdramatic?) yet you sit there and try and turn a simple fact that Scott was making kids nights as something he should do because others do it - Scott does a lot more for the fans in the pits than a hell of a lot of riders I've seen at Ipswich in recent times, so how about you stop slating a guy for doing something you imply he should be doing as a matter of course anyway! Adder
When do GB announce their team for Thursday evening? Is there a set time as in other more professional sports or will it just be squeezed out at some random juncture?

He has always been really good with the fans at Coventry, People at the top are there to be shot down and scott is having a tough time. I havn`t much time for much of the crap said on here so i doubt he would. If Scott had have been in that team instead of Eddie or Tai then would we be talking in same way about the team that managed to beat Slovenia .?? spook
I just don't get the attitude tbh .......... is this the 'British attitude' in full flow? ............. ie 'something positive is happening so lets concentrate on the negatives even if we arent quite sure if they are a negative' ............. don't we criticise our sportsmen for being infected with doubt and negativity? How can we expect our riders to hit their full potential if we are lurking behind every corner to have a pop at them? ...... and lets face it we arent actually just talking about 'a pop' with Scott are we? When we look back at some of the stuff posted about him over the last few years anyone would think he had committed mass murder! Until it is explained by RL, Scott or someone else involved then I don't see how any kind of speculation does the team any good...... and tbh I hope it is all left until after the campaign if it is to come out

Cornishfisherman
Whether you like him or loathe him Scott Nicholls has in the past given of his best for his teams and his Country. It was entirely up to him if he decided to go to Peterborough or not and certainly none of our business. He is probably one of the most sociable riders in Speedway and the time he spends with fans is enormous. Try having a chat with the likes of Gollob and a few more of the top riders whether they be Brits, Aussies, Danes or Poles. One thing Scott realises is that the fans at the end of the day pay his wages. Many top riders think they are a cut above fans, something special but at the end of the day they all come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing. Ipswich Jules
The same Gollob who unfortunetly missed out on his last ride with terrible terrible bike problems and he was clearly unable to ride it as he coasted round the track on it in a desperate attempt to make to start before the 2min warning was up, he looked throughly dejected and heartbroken of letting down his many UK fans that had paid to turn up...... Yet nobody seems to be mentioning that, imagine if Scott had of done it? These forums would of gone into meltdown!

ANDY2862
I for one had time off work and made the long trip to see Mr Gollob. And yes felt really let down on his non appearance in the last heat.

Oh I think they would orion. There are quite a few on the forum that pretend they don't care about him, but yet watch him with intensity to see if there anything they can use to have a go. Is there a set time as in other more professional sports or will it just be squeezed out at some random juncture? No doubt there will be a set time for the team to be announced to the correct authorities. Football i assume you are saying as a more professional sport but they don't have to confirm there team until an hour before kick-off.
