Alcohol At Cardiff

Recommended Posts

Never been to Cardiff, was thinking of going next year but after reading this thread [ and a pretty similar one last year ] i wont even bother. If i want to watch morons acting that way i can tune into one of those late night cops with cameras programmes chasing their tales around classless binge drinking scum that blight the UK now. I think its PATHETIC when so called adults have to get drunk and behave like this in the name of enjoyment. And the sad thing is it includes riders. If i was a promoter and one of my riders acted up like this his feet wouldnt touch the floor...on the way out.

I did that last year Ian. Plus i had my kilt and Monarchs shirt on so that covered my Scottish part :)

I felt like going abit more Hans this year.

Speedibee I dont care how much of a warn you have tbh. Though your still trying to make out my whole point of Cardiff is to wind people up. There was some idiot in a bad mood he decided to moan at me for having and waving a danish flag. Now if he is upset with the refs decision that is upto him but he has no right to tell me that i cant wave my flag because a english rider was excluded.

So lets get this straight. I go to Cardiff for the socialising and speedway. Im a Hans fan so wave a Danish flag and will continue to do so for as long as Hans is in the series. See you 2010 :D

Don't be like that Down in the Park.

If you have never been book up and go-It is a fantastic day.

Me and the lad have been going every year and never seen any violence or had any trouble whatsoever-apart from seeing what went on in the next block this year.

Unfortunately a few unsavoury incidents have been reported and magnified-for the majority of people there I bet no one had any hassle.

Whatever you do in life there are always going to be a few idiots around.

Book your tickets and go-its a great day out.May even take Ickle Nevs next year if we can find a room to plug her hair straightners into

Down in the Park - as I said in my Post - I had a GREAT time. I did not see any of the trouble mentioned. The reason I Posted was in support of those people who were affected. You should go to a GP - I am against the System - I only went to this one so my criticism of the GP System would be an informed criticism. However I was so impressed with the set up, Cardiff and everything about the weekend - I have already booked for next year. Don't let yourself be put off until you have given it a try - the atmosphere is marvellous - an unforgettable experience.

Riders are only human too they race and risk their lives for our entertainment so who the hell are you to say they cant go out and enjoy themselves? People go on about how great the sport is with the fan - rider interaction, you dont get better than seeing them out in the pub having a laugh over a drink etc with the professionals.

If they had a punch up so be it. To be honest as long as they are scoring on the track thats all i care about, when they take off them kevlars well they can do what they want.

Nevs and Ian Martin, i appreciate what you are saying and thanks for those sentiments. If theres one thing i cant stand its drunks behaving like idiots to the point they cant stand, and it only takes one behind you spilling beer all over you to spoil the Cardiff experience. Im not against ' atmosphere ' id love to take in a Polish league match with 20,000 there, and yes more than a little alcohol would be in evidence lol !!! But as someone said early on this thread ' Cardiff is great, its speedways biggest p'ss up. Mmmmmm. Maybe i'll re-think it on your advice though, after all if you havent tried it once ? Cheers [hic ]

This was my lad-Billy no mates- last year-not a drunk in sight-or spilling beer or fighting.

He has since taken to spraying himself each day with anti perspirant however.

Book up and enjoy it-It aint the beer fest some make it out to be

No drunkards and no fighting-2008

I said it earlier in the thread, I didn't see any trouble all weekend and had a brilliant time ...It was good to meet up with you again. :D See you next year Nevs ;):approve:

Woth a crowd of over 40,000 there are bound to be one or two incidents but people do seem to be going OTT.

Spillage is always going to happen whether it be alcoholic or soft drinks given the limited room per seat.

At any sporting event you are going to get some who have had a few sherberts. That's just the way it is. You either put up with it or stay at home, same as any Saturday night in any town centre across the land.

Some people do need to be more tolerant i'm afraid.

Why do we always hear that we should be more tolerant and accomodate the idiots and the drunks, why not a little less tolerant and tell "the minority" that they either behave like civil human beings and respect other people's entitlement to enjoy themselves. If they can't act more civil then I say let's be more intolerant and lock them out.

Me neither. In fact it was pretty boring where we sat - no flags, no drunks, no air horns. I've already booked the same seats for 2010.

I've not got the Scottish chip on my shoulder in any way shape or form , but even i was getting increasingly irritated by the continual " Come on England " . It was , if i'm not mistaken , the British GP ( and i am proud to be British ) . I'm sure the Welsh people in the crowd must have felt the same as me .

I've already mentioned it in another post but it really narked the hell out of me after the second playing (I did shout out "Its the BRITISH GP on the first time it was played).

Even sitting at home we thought it was odd to play that.

And I really hate "We love speedway" yuk - sounds like a drunk freddie mercury wannabe - just play "we will rock you " dammit

  • 1 month later...
I had a horrible experience yesterday. I was on the back straight, top tier, and there was about 6 polish guys behind us, god knows how many drinks they had. Anyway, to start off with they were fine.

Then the madness happened.

I felt a small drip on my back, and I thought, ok, that must have been an accident, then I went to get a drink out of my bag, and my bag was soaked, my cousins programme was soaked and out flags were drenched and covered in muck, so we couldn't wave them around.

Then they just spilt more and more all over us. My dad went and told a steward who then had a word with them, but then they took the pee and started again. At around Heat 17, they stopped.

But besides from that, I had a good day out. I just didn't at all feel comfortable getting soaked everytime one of them moved. I said to one of them: "Do you mind, I've been sat here and you have been soaking everywhere." He put his hand up to say sorry, and that it when they calmed down.

My uncle's feet were in a puddle aswell.

Disgraceful.

Adam

I think it is time to make alcohol compulsory at Cardiff.

Anyone who is not tanked up and is liable to be a miserable sod who then logs on to an Internet forum a few days later moaning about his/her day out should be excluded from the stadium.

I am sure that I not on my own in getting fed up with having to tolerate these teetotal puritans.

I have absolutely no problem with people drinking at Cardiff. However I do have a problem with the same people who get so drunk that they continually spill their alcohol over everyone else with total disregard and make the stairway like a swimming pool.

If they want to drink then make it that you can only drink in the area where it is served.
