T.N.T.
Nicholls lean left and guided Emil into the fence. The pit gate was to Scotts right and Emil would have had to cut across Scott to get through the gate but Scott was by now well cheesed off. First physical move was by Scott but Emil was at fault as Scott had ridden a good race.
Snyper1010
So they were having words and yet again Scott thought he was the big man. If someone had shoved me i would of shoved him back. He they rode emil into the pit gate. Emil did what i would of done and give if a swift jab to the chin which Scotty didnt like so went to cry in his pits. What a big bairn. Totally out of order for you to blame Emil for blocking Scott getting into the pits.
shirls
gate on the left nicholls on the right . prick. No they had turned to go through the gate,(but went in to the safety fence on it instead ) so it was gate on the right of Scott and Emil on the left. FTM
Trees the ditch that Mark was referring to was caused by a rider (don,t know who) doing a practice start away from the fence towards the middle of the corner The back wheel had dug in quite deep and although the track had been graded there was only loose shale in the rut Rune hit the rut with front wheel already commited to the turn into the bend which wrenched the bars out of his hands and back wheel kicked off the rut also I dont know if the rut occured during the meeting itself or during the two junior races or if it was left after the practice. The big blade was used to relay the track friday and with the large amount of shale it was pushing round its possible it was covered without the driver seeing it When the grading took place yesterday towards the middle and end of the meeting a lot of shale was dragged off both straights to get a bit more in the corners. I know this explanation to be spot on as I was the tractor driver pulling the heavy RSJ double girders round pulling the shale off the fence The track was far superior to any thing we have had before as at last the top bosses listened to what we as track curators have been saying for years If you are going to practice on a temp track on a Friday at least give us something decent to work with afterwards to get a track surface to stay in. The first 8 years we had something local that wasn,t very good standard. This year it was proper shale from Breedon Quarries near Derby which Colin and later on Myself used at Coventry I think most fans would agree this years track was the best for safety so far. Edward Barrett
Scott did throw his wheel out ifront of Emil on the straight, causing Emil to shut off and nearly fall off. Watching it on this video though, the reaction from Scott seemed to provoke it... Emil exchanges words with Scott, at which point Scott should have rode away from him but instead he pushes the Russian causing a retaliation with another push. Scott then pushes Emil into the airfence, where he then pushes Emil again before Emil throws the first punch. Emil may have been angry with the move, but there is no denying that Scott was the first to use physical force. My Point was BOTH were at fault because both were involved in the incident. Emil should have waited until they were in the pits before confronting Scott and Scott shouldn't have reacted by pushing Emil. Either way this type of thing, although adding a little bit of action, hardly promotes the sport to the new-comers. Fair post, NicWolves. Nicholls has got "form" for, shall we say, moving riders wide when he gets desperate for points, remember the incident with Harris when he dumped him in a lump into the fence a couple of seasons ago? As for all this "poor old Scotty" stuff; just supposing it had been NP in Nicholls place, I bet 90% of people who are standing up for Nicholls would be standing up for the Russian instead! Deano
you to blame Emil for blocking Scott getting into the pits. You are right... I thought the same as ML. The rider going into the pits (in front of Scott and Emil) clearly goes behind the pit gate to enter the pits. Which does mean Scott impedes Emil. Nazza
Just a picture on the Swindon Robins Website showing that the gate was on the left and it looks like Scott actually pushed Emil into the gate Scott V Emil
paul84
Enjoyed Cardiff the track was the best yet id say! didnt seem to have any ruts and held up well. Jason Crump was superb and deserved winner on the night. Good to see Scott Nicholls having a better night and really done well with his heat win. Bomber was unlucky to be excluded in the semi -final id of really liked to have seen him in the final but never mind. The referee made some terrible calls and again it makes me think that anyone can be a ref . But a good night of speedway top atmosphere cant wait to see it on sky now! paul84
You should have gone to specsavers! Sayfutdinov rode his bike straight to stop Nicholls getting in the the pits. He wouldn't give it a rest just kept on and on at Nicholls when Nicholls was only guilty of a hard but fair pass. Sayfutdinov has spat the dummy a few times now. He may be a fantastic talent but he needs to learn that when things don't go his way throwing the toys out of the pram is not the way to go. As for his mechanic/tuner/manager whatever Ashley Holloway wants to call himself, he was lucky he wasn't thrown out of the meeting for his thuggish behaviour in the pit lane. Agree- First time a gp didnt go his way and he seemed to strugggle mentally.

Cheers Mick Thanks for your explanation Mick, Rune was the worst affected by that rut, a few others touched it I noticed. Mark said that he was surprised that nobody went to check on what the problem was, perhaps nothing could be done anyhow ................ I think everyone agrees that the track was 100% better than previous years, Crump should have thanked you lot for talking sense into stubborn old Ole Olsen then not the man himself!! He who thinks he knows best, doesn't know best, obviously
bruno
a good track at last i watched it last night and it was a better meeting than i realised when i was there.obviosly had to much abbotts ale. ref was a bit inconsistant again but nothing was going to stop crumpie. with satfudinov a docking of points might get him focused and holloway was more out of order.still it livened things up and it shows what it means to the riders
wolfy
First person to post a screen capture of Nicholls on the floor crying like a baby whilst Sayfutdinov spanks his ass, wins a prize. 'Crying like a baby' what planet are you on (oh yes i forgot the i hate Scotty planet cos he has won 2 british domestic titles as captain) Why can you not say something constructive like 'Scotty did nothing wrong and rode a good race to keep him behind'. Emil needs to learn a lot. Scotty gave him plenty room around the outside. There are riders that i do not take a liking too but i will not knock them especially when they are down. Wolfy!!! wotnoaj
I've just watched the incident again and I don't care how anyone tries to dress it up, Emil stops Scott getting in to the gate. Scott was slightly ahead of Emil and was heading for the opening and instead of giving way and following Scott in, he locked handlebars and they both ended up hitting the gate, pushing it almost closed. The move in the race was hard but completely fair and what followed would not have happened if Emil had just accepted it and not kept going on and on about it. At the end of the day they were both out of order and have been dealt with. Unfortunately, the people who don't like Scott cannot bring themselves to give an objectional view and will blame him no matter what evidence is shown or what respected riders/ex-riders say about the incident. I don't have favourite riders so this is not an 'I love Scott' perspective. Yes I was behind him on saturday because I'm patriotic but I can promise you my opinion of the incident would have been the same regardless of who was involved. I also thought Hans made a fair move on Pedersen coming off of turn four and that Pedersen was out of order for having a go at Hans.
Pirate Baz
about the refs decisions tonight well he wasn't consistent. if he excluded Chris when hans more or less fell on his own Hans should have been treated the same way when he rammed Nicki. Too much listening to tantrum Ghostwalker. Totally different incidents. Hans was ahead of Harris when he drove under him. I agree Hans went down softly, but he was clipped. In the Pedersen incident Hans was clearly in front and Nicki rode into him trying to force his way accross.
wotnoaj
Ok, New to the forum, so I think I'll throw my hat into the ring on. Some really good racing in this GP, far better than I've seen so far this GP season. The Sayfutdinov/Nicholls ruckus seemed pretty clearcut to me, with Scott riding him hard and yes, "pushing" him out wide, but all's fair in GP speedway and more than once Emil's riding style has caused me to wince. The boy is heading for a big accident at some point. He then decided to give Nicholls a bit of mouth (not easy when English is probably his 3rd or 4th language), Nicholls got bored of the verbals and tried pushing him away in a "piss off mate" kind of way, then started to cruise into the pits. Emil's obviously got a pretty quick temper and decided to block him in the most petulant display I've seen for a while. A bit of a barney then ensues which should have cost both men either a suspension or docking of points. Holloway's interference should have resulted in a straight out exclusion from the pits. The fight was over, both were being walked apart and he decided to take a cheap shot. Not acceptable in my book. Pedersen's exclusion was both laughable and incredible. The ref had shown consistency, then decided to throw that out of the window and exclude Pedersen. He probably hasnt endeared himself to ref's with some of the behaviour he's shown lately (and from the reigning champ? Not on) All of this can't take away from Crumpy's achievement though. He was on it all night, and whilst he was lucky with his fall, he rode the luck (and his bike) all the way. Next round should be interesting and I hope it can live up to Cardiff. Welcome aboard celticboy! I have to say what an excellent post. Makes a nice change for someone to show an unbiased and neutral view. You will soon learn that is not always the case on here and that some cannot help themselves by using their hatred to post an opinion rather than be honest. Will look forward to reading more of you're posts and whether we agree/disagree, I'm sure it won't degenerate into a slagging match.
Jenn
Normally the meeting is the boring bit in the middle of the Cardiff weekend but I enjoyed it this year!! Firstly, many thanks to Sandie for sorting out what can only be described as the best seats in the house!! :D Scott v Emil - If Emil thought that was hard he will get a shock one day because there are many riders who are a hell of a lot tougher than Scott!!! Harris v Andersen / Andersen v Pedersen - Both right calls IMO - Hans had no chance of staying on but Pedersen jumped off. By far the best Cardiff meeting so far and a totally awesome display from Crumpy - my voice is still suffering the effects of an outstanding performance!! Looking forward to next year now!!! I also thought Hans made a fair move on Pedersen coming off of turn four and that Pedersen was out of order for having a go at Hans. Emil and Scott ended up in the gate to the left of the opening. Emil was in the inside, how could he have cut Scott off? Scott gives Emil a push with the elbow, Emil gives him a slap back on the arm and then Scott starts turning left and keeps leaning to the left until they ended up in the fence. Emil isn't stopping him from from going straight ahead and turning into the pit after the gate. But Scott is completely cutting off Emil, who has no chance of going around the gate and into the pit. And I really like Scott and feel sorry for him this year. And it doesn't change the fact that Emil really needs to grow up fast and learn to control his temper if he wants to ride with the big boys. And his pit crew's behavior was disgusting. On Danish tv they have a reporter in the pit who said that after everybody had returned they showed the fight again on tv and Emil and his pit crew started cheering like they felt Emil had won the fight and that was somehow something to be proud of. But I can't see how it could be Emil's fault that they ended up in the fence.
SpeedwayTShirts
I thought Scott Nicholls was a credit to Great Britain throughout the incident, just a shame he didn't manage to get hold of Holloway after the push he received off him and stick one on him on camera aswell !! Also a great shame that it wasn't shown out to its entirety on the big screen for the pleasure of the fans in the stadium, something which Steve Brandon addressed for the rest of the meeting. All in all a great year, roll on 2010 and lets hope to see more of that 'British Bulldog' spirit shown by all our representatives, whoever they are next year
