I always stop at Tamworth services: it's precisely 100 miles from home and has a Ladbrokes too, although I guess I'm not usually on the way to Cardiff. :)

I used to work at Leigh Delamere (M4 J17) when I was a very young Snail. One day a coach of Bristol City fans and a coach of Cardiff City fans both arrived at the same time. I learnt a lot about what it must have been like at Ypres that afternoon. :o

Services are generally ghastly places that one never wants to linger for long. It's become even worse since some of them have been turned into shopping centres, and people actively seem to flock to them merely for the shopping 'experience'. :(

Totally agree. Stop for a wee and then off I go.

People seem to obsessed with Motorway Service holes! Cant stand them personally especially on coach trips ...what is supposed to be a 5 minute splash & Dash turns into a bloody 45 minute wait for smokers and yadder yadder yadder merchants! <yawn> Thank God above were driving ourselves this year ...hour and a bit to Cardiff west then the 'services' can really start in the privacy of your own Hotel Bathroom!:wink:

Me and James have got it to a fine art on the coach trips now...especially the splash and dash stops. He will go off to the shop to get my cup of tea (and a drink/crisps/magazine for himself) beating the rush of people while I go to the loo.

We then meet up outside the toilets and get back to the coach in the minimum time..whilst others are still queueing for the teas and coffees/ newspapers and magazines.

Yep us to ...... I know when we leave there it's not much further to Cardiff and my weekend begins with a fry up at Reading Services :approve:

Yes Bird !

As for using Reading Services, why not come off at Junction 12 (about 1 mile after Reading Services), take the roundabout exit toward Reading A4 and about 400 yards later you'll be at a Sainsburys, which has usual cafe where I'm sure they'll do you a fry-up. Also has a McDonalds. These are all at non-services hyper-inflated prices. Very competitively priced fuel available also.

Rico
