Posh Red
With regards to the meeting, it's difficult to know what they can do with the man made (temporary) tracks. And just what other types of tracks are there, pray? There are those that are created by GOD him/herself (don't want to upset the ladies as well). Parsloes 1928 nearly
You mystify me.. You defend the GPs even though they are the dullest as dishwater things ever created. Then a new young, brilliant rider comes along, more worth seeing than the rest of the lot put together; and you post an appalling comment like this.. So come on then, why would ANYONE be happy that the BEST rider (by some distance) in the field - who'd already won the meeting under proper rules - be denied a place in the Final..? Coz I can't think of even one rational reason why anyone who cares about the sport would think that!!!! All of those who responded missed the point! Blazeaway- who HASN'T responded(!) - was saying he was GLAD that Emil had touched the tapes... My point was WHY would anyone (bearing in mind the oft-mentioned dubious quality of the excitement generated in the meeting generally...) be happy to be denied what would've been a cracking semi and then (especially...) Final...!
spook
maybe the word 'denied' got in the way there then Parsloes?
Parsloes 1928 nearly
maybe the word 'denied' got in the way there then Parsloes? Yep fair point. I wasn't trying to imply by the word "denied" that the tapes exclusion was unfair or incorrect. It was a bloody shame though...
SCB
Don't know if tis been mentioned on here but Emils bikes (carbs at least) were tested by the FIM. Incidently, the guy tuning these super fast bikes has said he'd like to help Team GB in the SWC, what odds on him being there? I'd say closed to 0. It was a bloody shame though... Totally agree Parsloes 1928. I was absolutely gutted for Emil - it was obvious, by this time, that the two Brits were not in the hunt for honours - so I was supporting the Russian. I could NOT believe it when he hit the Tapes - he didn't NEED to do that - he seemed MILES faster than anyone else anyway. He has shown he has the ability to come from the back. I thought at first he might have had a clutch problem. I am actually hoping the Crumpy wins the World Championship - but - if he doesn't - I hope it is Emil Sayfutdinov who does. He has come into World Speedway like a breath of fresh air.

I remember this subject coming up during TRick's last championship winning season .............. and I recollect a post made by an informed person which said that there are only certain things that can be checked at the venue and the real costs come when machinery is impounded, packed up and sent off to be checked with the specialised equipment It would be easy for this subject to be put to rest indefinitely if they just started impounding 5 bikes a gp and factoring in the costs within the budget........ easy for me to say lol ......... but I dont see how the world speedway championship can expect to be taken seriously unless this kind of procedure which is normal in other motor sports is taking place

I guess they first have to reach the point where the reputation of the competition is more important than £x saved...................... hopefully that wont be when a scandle comes along that they fail to keep quiet

spook
"If I hear anymore about cheating I will strip the engine myself after the meeting," Brit Holloway told the Speedway Star. haha love it well ash has certainly pulled no punches and good luck to them this is the issue though... the way the system is setup it breeds whispers because the only alternative is for someone to put their money and reputation where their mouth is............ instead of the organisers putting their money where the competitions reputation is Edited June 18, 2009 by spook
